Hey all

So have been vaping for 3 weeks or so. Got an aerotank mega with mvp2. I decided that its time to start making my own liquids and along with that buy my first rda. So the shop i am visiting has a patriot clone and an omega clone. Which one you guys would suggest? Also if possible can anyone share any good links on how to make my own coils on these two RDA? That would be really helpful :) I think a clone RDA will help me get the hang of coil rebuilding and also test my liquids.

Thank you for your time!

Edit: I read too read.

I know you're asking about an RDAs, but I was quite pleased with an RTA first. Direct dripping was one of my vaping methods, but I had gotten used to using tanks because they were convenient. The Kayfun was a nice product for transition - it's an easy build and also a tank.

I liked my Patriot, it was my first RDA, but I had to drill it out a lot and it is fairly shallow so it can leak a bit, I also had to replace the o-rings with bigger ones as the top moved around constantly. No idea on the omega, sorry.

do you have any pictures or more info about the drilling imsoenthused? :) i heard about drilling its holes but got no idea as to how much and stuff like that.

RBA is my next stop but for now dont wanna spend more cash :) probably gonna buy a taifun clone though when i do and maybe a box mod like hana with it.

Honestly, it is very subjective. Mine has holes in it big enough that you can see my coils through them, 7/64"(around 2.7mm) if I remember correctly, lots of people prefer more in the 5/64 or 2 mm size, or even a little smaller. Your best bet is to get a few drill bits ranging from just bigger than the stock hole and going up from there. Then just drill it one step up at a time until you like it. You can always drill it a little bigger much more easily than you can fix it if it's too big.

I'd say the magma and the plume veil are the best around at the moment. Magma for flavor and portability, plume veil for pure vapor production. Just my opinion though. If I could only have one RDA I'd probably pick the Magma just for how well it travels and performs even if it doesn't chuck the hugest clouds around. I'm waiting on a Pontus now, which I'm hoping will be an order of magnitude better than the Magma for actually carrying around, but only time will tell.

thnks a lot people also if anyone has any good links of guides on how to rebuild it will be nice :)

I wrote the following blog guides explaining how to use an Ohm's Law calculator and how to build a simple dual microcoil for a 3-post RDA and the required tools/supplies for rebuilding.

Explain It For The Dumb Noob: Ohm's Law Calculation

Inexpensive Mechanical Mod/RDA Setup

Your MVP will only be able to consistantly fire a single 1.3 ohm single coil due to its protective circuitry and amp limit. I suggest building a 1.5 - 2.0 ohm single microcoil.

I'd check out a few YouTube rebuild videos for the atty you decide to go with.
Origin and patriot were top attys a year or so ago. There are better out there. Make sure whatever you get has a single coil option:
Plumveil, Veritas, magma, 454 big block.
All have single coil option, they are also available in clones for around $25 usd online.

The Omega clone/authentic is less forgiving where you place your coil adjacent with air hole, coil building is simple part, placement of the coil to air holes is tricky. Patriots clones might not have the air hole you want, but are easier to build on.

As others suggested, you might want to to look at other RDAs and order it online, one with big deck, bigger post holes, and air flow controller.

Keep in mind, that you're at 11 watts and .8 ohm max with you MVP, so build accordingly...

DO NOT get the Omega as a first RDA. I made that mistake. The well walls are really high and trying to use the holes in the posts is a PITA. The Omega is more for clouds than flavor. I agree that the Magma is good choice. Much easier to build on, deep wells and gives great flavor. The Kayfun variants (3.1, Lite, Russian) are great for flavor (not quite as good as a dripper) but you get 4+ mils of juice in the tank.

well i got patriot finally i am happy for starters. i drilled the holes to 1.5mm. So when i got some cash on me my next buy will be a kayfun clone and a mech mod or box mod and then i think i am complete :vapor:

A lot of us start out thinking that way... Then you get the next thing and your good... not! Lol there's always one more thing on my list... Right now it's a few rdas I want to try and a new mech...
To pace myself I try to only make one order a month and keep it under $200.
That may sound like a lot, but it's still cheaper than smoking 2 packs a day...
This month it was batteries and diy supplies

Yeah... You splurged =)
I used egos for 3 months before getting a SiD and getting into rebuilding. It's been about 11 months since I started rebuilding, and I'm just now getting into diy... I moved MUCH slower! Lol
everyone is different.
