Do I have to do anything to set up my paypal account to accept payments? Already linked it to my bank account years ago, I just never had an opportunity to receive money.

No you don't. Just give who ever is paying you the email you used on your paypal account and you will get a message saying you got cash. Then you go to your paypal account and transfer the funds from there into your bank account. Or just leave it there for when you want to buy something.
