Hi all...hoping someone can clear this up, as there seems to be a lot of uncertainty around PayPal and vape supplies.

My question is--if I buy something vape related (hardware) not through eBay, and pay via PayPal, do I still have buyer protection (if it didn't arrive, or arrived damaged, etc)? I haven't been able to get any clarity on this despite a lot of Googling!

Thanks in advance!

Strictly speaking, PayPal has a policy of not allowing its service to be used to purchase E-Cig supplies from U.S. vendors. For the most part, they ignore this rule because they make money. Occasionally they do enforce it, and in the instances where you have to report an issue, i doubt you'd get much help from them.

Like Dale mentioned, if it comes down to you ever having to describe the specifics of your purchase, they'd probably turn you away.

I thought that the Paypal/eBay restrictions just applied to nicotine and not to hardware etc that doesn't include nicotine? Or is that incorrect?

As far as eBay is concerned, that is the way they treat e-cigs. However, there have been cases of Paypal accounts being frozen in the past due to e-cig related transactions. From what I've seen, there is not a whole lot of consistency in how Paypal enforces their policies on the subject . . .

So, in response to the OP's question: Yes you still have the buyer protection, but there is also the chance that your account could be in jeopardy when a claim is made and the details of the transaction come out in the open. I've seen disputes that didn't invoke any retribution from PP, though, so I honestly don't know what the odds are. It would probably depend on the particular situation and maybe the terminology used by both parties in the dispute process

Here's my PayPal experience.

I pay for my vape supplies with a PayPal debit card, never had it denied or rejected.

You have 2 months to dispute purchases unless illegal activity has taken place. If illegal activity has taken place, there is no time limit to dispute. I disputed an eBay purchase that the Feds came and seized the item 10 months later and got a full refund.
