Does anyone know if peaches and cream yarn fits in a mini protank 2 coil? I want to be able to easily slide out the old cotton, dry burn the coil, and put in a new wick. The yarn has to fit snug in the coil though and obviously not be too big.

Making a wick out of a cotton ball is more trouble than it's worth, too hard to get the correct size and hard to thread through without displacing the coil.

4 ply? It'll fit but lots of luck threading *that* needle. I only use yarn when I'm making a new coil as well. I don't have the eyes nor the patience to just add a wick. :D

Why not try cotton from a ball? You can roll an end real thin and thread it that way. That's what I do on a dripper.

I have no idea what ply it is. Making a wick out of a cotton ball is too much trouble, too hard to get the right size and thread it through, and it floods and leaks if you don't have it exactly right.

To thread cotton into a premade coil I double over a 4 or 5 inch piece of kanthal or other thin wire and twist the two loose ends together, then peel one strand of yarn out of the 4 ply yarn to your desired length (2 or 3 inches probably) and double it over the loop in the wire you just made. Thread the twisted end of the wire through the coil gently pulling the cotton into position. Cut the yarn to the right length. Adjust the coil back into position as needed, add liquid and check resistance.

I don't use peaches and cream but this works for me using either "string" or yarn. A little trial and error to find the right amount to use but once you find what works it's acedemic.

Hope you find this to help. Cheers:vapor:

Three strands works perfect for my built micro coils for pro tanks/evod etc. 28 gauge kanthal/11 wraps/ 1.5 ohms - vape at 8 watts.

I don't know the size of the drill bit I use for pro tanks but it is just barely fits in the grooves - so that it can hold coil in place for securing leads and making sure it allows for easy re-wicking.

You can use the Kanthal just like you would in sewing and you use the little needle threader. I have not used the yarn but have read where several people have. I want to try it myself. But I bought 33 feet of silica so I feel like I have to use that first. :) I think the cotton looks easy to thread on the YouTube videos. Just my :2c:. Good Luck.

It says it on the yarn label. :)

Just wait till you thread yarn through a coil. :D

Seriously. If you "unroll" a cotton ball (yes cotton balls are rolled together), it's just a rectangular piece of fluff. Tear some off and start rolling it with a thumb and forefinger. It's not as hard as you think.

I've already tried it. Too hard to get a piece that will seal off flooding and leaking to the battery. Cotton yarn is held together pre-made, theoretically atleast it would be much easier to deal with and put in the coil. That is if the diameter of the yarn is not bigger than the coil. If I have to unravel individual plys off of the yarn it's more trouble than it's worth.

I'm going to wait to see what peaches and creme says about their yarn via email and then go see for myself if it would fit through a mini protank 2 coil or not.

I don't know how wide the inside diameter of a mini-ProTank coil is ... but, since I make my own coils (obviously) for my Kayfun, I found that a coil made on a 2.4mm (3/32") drill bit accepts a double piece of cotton yarn perfectly. It pulls through real nice.

It's 4 ply. Attached pics for you. I use it in some of my rebuildables & honestly I think it's thicker than a piece of cotton. A few times I've messed up my coil trying to change the wick.

With cotton you just have to figure out the right amount of cotton to avoid leakage.

I can't imagine what they'd be able to tell you in an email unless they've got vapers using this stuff who'd know what you're talking about.

You could always just practice. The yarn is less than $3.

There's more room to work with on a Kayfun; not so much on a Protank.

If u have a hard time with the yarn as is...u can try separating 1 strand and try threading 3.. If still no go try 2.. But u may need to add flavor wicks to stop leaking.. I haven't tried re-wicking a stock coil, just my builds

I use just 2 strands of the 4 on a micro coil (1/16 drill bit). Any more than that and it makes for a harder draw and less juice gettting to the coil. One thing about P & C yarn. It takes it a bit more time than cotton does to get saturated enough. I give it 5-6 dry pulls and then let it sit for a bit before hitting it. And then it rocks, I like it better than just plain cotton!! I also pulled a few yards off of the roll and gave it a 5 min. boil, just in case.

I recoil mine with 30 gauge so that the coil is relatively sturdy and can be rewicked several times. It's very easy to thread a piece of yarn through the coil when time to rewick. Just cut off about 2 to 3 inches of yarn, moisten one end with a small amount of juice, and roll it between your fingers. It then threads very easily through the cleaned coil; when threaded, cut off the moistened portion and continue. One strand of the 4-ply yarn wicks very well, seals the holes in the tube completely, and almost NEVER does a leak occur.

Edit: I wind my coils on a 2 mm (5/64") rod.

hey there,
I've got a couple posts out there on cotton...... it's the holy grail don't ya know...........
I can't seem to wick with ball cotton, q tips, puffs, etc....... but I'm not satisfied with total silica anymore.......

solution?

I take my kangar mini protank II coil and once I've used it for a while, I open it up, take out the silica flavour wicks, dry burn it, and then add one or two strands of cotton yarn....... not the whole thickness.. I break it down into the 4 strands it comes in, and I use one or two...

neither way leaks, adjust to your own taste and need for vapour........... I do both

my two cents

Tht is a really cool ides. Threading the yarn with a piece of the Kanthal. Good thinking my friend. I love picking up tips like this for when I finally venture into building.
