I've been god awful busy lately, and just havent had time to work on my 5V passthrough. Up until about 30 minutes ago I had no 5V option for vaping, and have been dying to try it out, with all the rave.

So, this morning, I decided to finish it up. Keep in mind, I have very little in the way of "tinkering" tools. In fact, my soldering iron looks like a screwdriver, it's just not efficient for this sort of work, but I was able to pull it off. I still need to clean this up with some electrical tape and some wire caps, but it's too early to go out and get the supplies yet :p

So, behold, my first 5V USB Passthrough, Dirty, Dirty style! ;)

With the money I saved building my own passthrough, I think I'm going to invest in some smaller soldering iron tips and an exacto knife :)

Nice and clean! Good job! Id like to see how long that atty lasts tho..

Well I appreciate your kind words, but to me this was sloppy! It works though, which at the end of the day is all that matters, especially when the sloppyness is mainly contained within the box

I guess we'll see, my main atty that I'm using now is being sent through the gauntlet, 3.6v, 5v, 6v.

5v is a nice happy medium I think. Once I finish my box mod that'll take 2x CR2's with a 5V regulator, I'll post some pics, it too is oogly!

I seriously need some precision tools.

Aye, it vapes like a champ, though the performance seems to be hit or miss. I dont know if it's a faulty switch or what. I just haven't had the time to troubleshoot it at all. I've tested the atty with a multimeter while the button is pressed and it seems to have a consistant 5.10V running to it. Perhaps when it's under load from the atty that's where the problem comes in. I've tried multiple USB ports on multiple PC's, and my USB DC adapter in my Jeep as well. When it hits it hits good, but sometimes it takes 4-5 seconds before I can get vapor.

I have to say, 5V sure is a sweet spot for vaping  Now I need to finish my 2x CR2 mod with the 5V regulator so I can take the 5V on the go.

Hey RenaissancePuffer ,
For some reason, my mind has been wandering along these same lines of ripping my pass through apart and using a USB cable to power my eCig in the car or work.... (You beat me to it!) :)

I'd like to see where your 2 CR2 batteries project leads to... I was thinking of somehow tearing apart my 510 PCC case and using the USB adapter (the Mini USB 5-Pin Female Adapter) in it as a connector - and with the CR2s, turn it into a NicoBox/PV/Pass Through... Does that make sense?

All you would need is a standard USB Mini cable.... Something along the lines of a PV normally, and you can charge/vape when it's plugged into a computer or car adapter....

That sounds a lot like the Janty Stick, except at high volts. That would be awesome, but I would think it would require some sort of PCB inside to prevent the batteries from overcharging. Hmm, something to look into for sure :)

Thanks for the info, I've looked around, it seems like there are plenty of AC->USB 5V 1A wall plugs. I'll see if I can get my hands on one and give it a try.
