It has everything to do with taste and preference Sun. You are missing that point.
The hotter burn makes for more throat hit. Some people prefer that.
In your opinion, it's better to go for a supposedly longer lasting coil. Without even getting into longevity (again, I have used both and I know which have lasted me longer), the difference in vapor and throat hit more than makes up for any difference in longevity, for some people.
I'm not telling you to recommend them. But I am telling you that which is bestter is a matter of opinion.
Yvilla----you have your opinion and made it quite clear that you like the draw and the throat hit of an RN407. My reccomendation of an 801 is from an objective aspect with an eye on better construction and design. Two totallly different things. Just like I loved an MGB I used to own--but it was not practical. So is the RN4072.
ADD--Noone is discounting like or dislike of the two units--that is not the issue, but do not discount the money, effort, and time being spent by us to get to the bottom of atomizer failure. The first thing we learned was about the higher burn rate and more residue build up on the coil of the RN4072--that is the price paid for that "better throat hit"--a price that is not very practical --forget about the flimsy wiring and mesh on the RN4072 as well--bottom line it is a cheaply constructed atomizer compared to the 801 or the M401 or the DSE901----Sun
