Peppery aftertaste --help please!

I have a small problem, and a question that goes with it.

Short version: can cotton wick add peppery aftertaste compared to silica? Or can 30ga kanthal do the same compared to 33ga (or whatever thin wire is used in stock Vivi heads and cartos)?

Long version:

My wife vapes unregulated egos. Her favorite delivery systems are boge 2.0 cartos and a Mini Nova. I make her juice with 3% WL Marlbaro, 6mg nic and 75/25 PG/VG.

Recently I got fed up with trying to get a correct resistance Vivi head (they're all over the place), and made her a new head with correct resistance, 30ga kanthal, and cotton yarn wicks. With that one, she says it tastes the same as before on an inhale, but has a nasty peppery aftertaste on the exhale.

I can't taste either after vaping 18mg juice at 12 watt. Tastes like air to me.

The question is -- could going to a thicker wire and cotton wick from silica add peppery aftertaste? Or did I mix her a bad batch of juice?

There is a number of test I'm gonna try also (loading it into cartos, putting one of those stupid 3.8 ohm heads on a Vamo with higher voltage, etc). But I figured someone might know the answer off the top of their head

I know that "unflavored" juice is slightly peppery to me and many others. This may be due to the low % of flavoring you're using? More than likely it has to do with the juice, not the equipment you're using.

I just tried these silly cotton wicks and I had the same problem - weird aftertaste...boiled for 15 min, 100% pure cotton and it tasted like crap...maybe we're doin something wrong lol idk

I might be really reaching here, but to me higher nic juice always gives me a peppery flavor, so possibly your new rebuild head is delivering more nicotine than usual?

Or maybe you messed up the juice and used too much nic?
