Got my ming drip tip earlier this week and today I got my cobalt phiniac tank and a matching glass drip tip. So exciting amirite??

I got the regular size so that I could use a variety of cartos and have had some boge and kanger ones sitting around for a while. When I got my vapemail today, I tried to get it all set up (to take some long awaited pictures and vapes) and I just ended up frustrating myself.

I took out a boge carto and put it on my silver bullet so that I could put the tank over it. Accidentally hit the button and burnt the carto. Rather amusing that I accidentally hit the button on the recessed button of my bullet, isn't it? Then, I had trouble punching holes into my second carto and squeezed it so hard that I distorted the whole thing. Fine, I'll just try it without the tank for now, methinks. Burnt that carto too. On to the fourth one, I get the juice in and pop the new drip tip on it and it pushed the filler down into the carto. That carto will be going into the trash too.

So, for now, I have put my dct back onto my bullet and will be changing into my pajamas and having a nap before attempting to put everything together. I'll try not to have dreams about how much easier it was to light up an analog and feel the stress go away instead having to deal with this unfortunate series of events.

I like ease of use.

Wait til you try to put the tank together and fill it. I just got mine a couple days ago, ordered it as a birthday present and it took over a month to get to me because it got returned the first time with a damaged shipping label. It's a pain in the .... so far, but a pretty one. The bottom inner o-ring is a ...... I hate it. Both Boge and Kanger cartos fit poorly in it, and so far 2 piece of the rubber have been cut off by my carto. It's a pain in the .... to fill as well, compared to my Mini Sub tank which has a fill port.

Also, it vaped absolutely beautifully for about 4-6 hours and then all of a sudden it wouldn't wick the juice from the tank to the carto. Still trying to figure out what's wrong and this started yesterday. WAAAAHHHH! :(

Chris from Phiniac suggested to lube the tank holes with some juice - it helps a lot but then the tank slides so easily. Well it's slides anyway... I managed to get the Boge in without lube but that's with the stainless steel caps, I think they're a bit looser. Anyway I like the tank but I wish it would stay in place :(

Why punch when you can slot with a dremel? That's all I ever do I even slot the tank dcc.
That is the only way I can keep any carto wicking in a tank.
As for the Phiniac I love these. They are the only tanks that I've had the don't leak. And
are as tough as nails.
I use Boge, Kangers, DCT's IKenvape's and Smoktech cartos for them. When I put a new carto in
the tank I put the bottom of the carto through the top of the tank I also "lube" it up a bit & if I find
that they are cutting into the o-rings I emery the sharp edge off the cart. When I fill I fill from the bottom.
Though if I'm using a flanged DCT on my Tall boy I go from the bottom up. They might slide a bit but the DT keeps it from
sliding up.
I'm not very good at explaining so I hope this make sense.
I love my Phiniac's I ordered 2 more

I don't have a dremel and can't afford one ;) That's why lol :p. I also worry that the bits of metal will get into the filling and consequently, into my juice, as I have heard that this is a concern.

I couldn't afford a real dremel. got a cheapy at canadian tire on sale for about 20 bucks.
I should have been more clear on the slotting. I don't go all the way through just enough so I can
puncture it. I can't punch a cart with out denting it and I think it puts it out of round. Probably just
me. just thought I would offer something that works for me is all.

This is what I'm probably going to try next. What I learned yesterday is that punching a new hole into a carto vs making an existing one bigger is a wee bit more challenging. My punching experience was limited to the flanged smoketech ones, to even the size of the smaller boge ones was different. I tried punching with the condom on and that did help, but I think using the dremel+punch method will work best. My husband has our dremel set at his work right now, so we'll be making a special trip or I'm getting a second one. At least I have a lot of useless cartos to practice on before I try it on a new one...

I also plan on screwing my cartos into my sb to see where I can line the hole up with my button (I like using my thumb to turn it on).

@Dusty aka the peanut gallery: I committed myself to getting the silver bullet and making it work for me, so no new vaping devices for me (at least for now) until I get this right. I am interested in a feeder mod like the reo or the v-mod, but have much to learn first about their use.

I'll give this another shot later when I get my dremel and remember to lube the phiniac and see how it works.

It's not just you. I ding up the cartos something awful punching them.

That said, I want a glass tank BAD. Any suggestions on one that is relativity easy to use?

Ease of use so far has not existed for me and I've had it for about 5 days. I'm coming from a Mini Sub tank from Mom & Pop Vapor Shop, which has a fill port and had me spoiled I guess, because filling the Phiniac is actually a huge pain in the ..... I've cut up the bottom inner o-ring twice now with my carto because it's such a tight clearance. It looks pretty though. I'm buying this as soon as I'm able: Phiniac Tank Kit - Phiniac Rugged Pyrex Glass Tanks I've heard the tank fill tool works really well and that carto punch solves the one issue I sometimes have with saddle valves (carto sliding), and the price is very right. Can always use more o-rings and I already got a Phiniac bag with my tank but they're nice.

The edges on cartos are pretty sharp, put a standard drip tip on and slide that end thru first to avoid cutting up the o-rings. Saddle valves are meant more for puncturing soft copper than steel, so I find occasionally sharpening the tip with a small flat hobby file allows it to punch thru with less deformation of the carto barrel ... be warned though ... a sharp point on the punch will lessen or eliminate that satisfying "pop", which is actually the metal giving way when pushed past its breaking point by a dull punch.

I was punching with a saddle valve and had the same issues with denting them and putting them out of round, used a dremmel which worked well but the odd time would get a metalic taste while vaping. The only thing I use now is believe it or not is a hack saw. It works great, only about 10 passes and you have a nice size slot, blades will last a long time and when they do need replacing they are cheap and you can find them at any hardware store.
