Ego Mega Dual coil from smok Tech, one of my all time favorite carto betrayed me. I have been using this particular carto for a month now and maybe while I was working I might have accidentally pressed the button too long and burnt it out.Ego 1 wont light up so tried Ego 2 and all i got was three flashes and dead. Then stupid me decided to try the same carto on a third ego. three flashes later and I have myself three dead semi new batteries that wont fire at all even with a new carto or atty. Nothing bad to say a bout the Mega carto and i will continue to use them but but a hard lesson learned for me and hopefully prevents it happening to you guys is if a carto is burned out thrash it and dont try it on any other batteries.

sorry to hear - I had the same thing happen to me with a brand new 510 LR atty - the rogue atty killed 2 of my eGo batteries in about 5 minutes. Luckily for me, the vendor was kind enough to send a me a free battery, even though my batteries were well passed their warranty period. Did you test it with a meter?

Which specific eGos do you have? I had the same thing happen to me when I got a pair of 1100mah LCD egos the first time......screwed in a particular carto, got just the three blinks and off (The LCD counter reset to zero, too).

Turns out, the problem was that with some eGos, you shouldn't screw in anything very tightly.....and if you do and it causes this problem, you can try prying up the center pin in the contact area with a knife or tweezers.....just pry it up from all sides so it comes up just a few mm.......and then don't screw anything in too tight. Worked for me.

Exact same thing happened to my 1100mah ego lcd - only lasted 1 week - wasn't a carto for me, though an ego booster!

I will stick to Joyetech batts - I've had 2 for 4 months & never an issue.

Yeah....it was odd because one of them turned out to be just fine after that.....even if I screwed things in tight.....but the other one....totally useless....It would only work on one LR atty I had....no cartos, and ONLY if the atty was ridiculously loose in the threads....practically falling out. I ended up sending that one back to the vendor. Won't be buying LCDs any more. I just ordered a Provari V2, so I doubt I'll spend much time worrying about eGos anymore....but they're still good for out in public / at work / as a backup. Going with genuine Joyetech ones might be a good idea (don't know for sure as I haven't used any)

I honestly think the ego-lcd's were poor quality from the get go. Some may have lucked out, though. For the few bucks more, I'm more than willing to stick with Joys. If you've seen Switched's site for Joy's, there's now no reason not to buy them. His prices are unbeatable.

Ironically, my Provari arrived today but I can't try it - My charger from China never arrived - ordered it a month ago. If the charger isn't in my mailbox by the week's end, I'll have to email Jack @ HV to bring one to the Flea market for Saturday.

There is no damn way I'm going through the weekend without this Provari!

Sorry for the battery issues. But you got a month out of a Smok Tech.... I have been using Boge Tech and the most use I get on a very good run is 4 days. The one I have now is only 24 hours old and already starting to get restricted. Smok Tech here I come.

Wrong Thread, my bad, Sorry to OP - please ignore. Bumpity Bump?

Killface, I highly doubt it's a center pin issue. The OP mentioned 3 flashes then nothing... even if the center pin gets pushed too far down, hitting the switch should still light the LED. From my experience Joye's tend to handle shorts better than the off-brand versions.

Thought it could be that because, on my LCD, it would flash three times each time you pressed the button....but no firing.

The longer you use the carto or atty, the lower the resistence gets. I just pitched an atty as it had gotten down to 1.2 ohms. A bit low for an eGo battery... The eGo batteries are not good with ultra low resistance devices.

I probably wouldn't use a carto for more than a week or two. A guy I know used the same carto for two months and his battery actually caught on fire. I'm not sure of the science behind it, maybe somebody smart could back me up with some theory and crap.

Hi Spac, I think your theory is spot on with what happened to my batteries. It was already an LR carto to begin with and after over a month of exclusive use, the resistance would have probably been low enough to fry my switch or board.

This makes all the sense. I believe if the resistance gets towards near 0 - you'll have a full short. These ultra low resistances will fry the batteries logic circuit. Very good point, there Spac.
