You must must must drink lots more liquid before during and after you vape - even if its VG you are using (and I know you said PG but this is advice for everyone new :) ) - both VG and PG are both drying to mucus membranes and CAN give you the dry mouth/dry nose/sore throat issues; most are alleviated by drinking - water is best or juices that aren't too acidic, but really if you increase your intake of liquid by at least double what it was you will see benefits. Coffee/tea/alcohol tend to be drying too so you shouldn't have too much of those unless your water intake is HUGE.

Congrats on being smoke free. I am at three months and I find myself using both. I can't wake up and hit the PG. It's just too harsh for my first vape of the day. After a while VG seems a little week so I move to 60/40, by night I am hitting straight PG and loving it.

This probably didn't help much just because it really is different for everyone. It's just what works for me.

Good luck and keep trying, that's what works for most of us (as I sit with crossed fingers).
