PG gives greater throat hit, less vapor, generally passes flavors better (in VG you have to crank up the flavor %).
VG produces more vapor, less TH. Some people note a slight oily sensation from vaping VG.
Some people have sensitivities to either PG or VG, need to minimize the intake of one or the other. Otherwise, mutts like me can use either fine.
For people with no sensitivity, a mix of about 70% PG/30% VG to 80% PG/20% VG is often pretty popular, hits the "sweet spot" combination on TH and vapor.
Over time I've found that TH doesn't matter much any longer, vaping 0 - 60% PG depending on what I feel like mixing.

I'm sure someone will post all the facts about the two so I'm going to provide my experience.

Pg is way too harsh for me. Chapped lips, dry throat, eyes burning. no matter how much water I drink.

Got my hands on some vg only and all symptoms have alleviated. It's not as bad with 50/50 but still have the same symptoms to a lesser degree.

I now plan on getting vg only for my main vapes while continuing 50/50 for exotic flavors I will use occasionally.

PG is what is used in hospitals for inhalation therapy, and according to one surgeon that is true even for lung transplant patients. PG is also used in concert fog.

PG - thin, lets through the most of nicotine's TH and irritation, lets through the most flavor, makes weak short-lived visible vapor
VG - thick, dulls everything PG lets through, make thicker long-lasting vapor

Most people prefer a blend, especially in the US when we have dozens of juice makers and most of them offer blends. High PG blends are popular - enough VG to smooth out the vape while leaving plenty of TH and flavor and adding vapor. Some like a 50/50 mix. Some like high VG. I like 50/50 and 70pg/30vg but in stuffing-type cartomizers I find 20% VG or less seems to give me longer good performance as I reuse a stuffing-type carto. Tanks and reservoir cartos also work well with high PG blends like 10-30% VG

VG is thick. Much thicker than PG and can clog up cartos faster than PG. In some systems like the tank and dual coil cartos the flavor of the juice is muted somewhat. Some flavors like fruit I really like with a higher VG (for me higher) like a 60pg/40vg. But at that ratio I don't get any flavor with dual coil cartos. It's OK with boge LR cartomizers.
Some people find PG harsh and the juice is thinner.

A good ratio seems to be 80pg/20 or 70/30. I would experiment until you find a good ratio for you. Some people have PG allergies (I think I read 10%). Some people say they have a heavy feeling in their lunges from VG. I order the same juice and each time I ordered it I changed the ratio slightly until I found a good one for me.
