I did a search and couldn't find what I was looking for.
I know what they stand for, and I know one of them gives more vapor, but what is the actual difference?

I sortof assumed that you need both to function which I suppose is wrong since juicyliquids gives me the option of choosing EITHER pg or vg for my "juicepacks"

whats the deal folks? what should a newbie like me pick.

PG stands for Propylene Glycol. It's a common food additive. It's synthetic, but derived from natural sources.

VG stands for Vegetable Glycerine. It's also a common food additive. It's also from natural sources but not synthetic.

The big difference between the two is that some people have an allergic reaction to PG. They experience tightness in the throat in some cases and in others more severe symptoms. VG on the other hand is well tolerated by most people.

In terms of vaping experience, PG produces slightly thinner vapor than VG and some people find PG sweeter to the taste. PG is also the industry standard. Most companies only offer PG fluid, though some (notably Johnson Creek) provide both.

My advice to you would be to try both. Personally, I prefer VG, but only slightly. I feel like it delivers a little better throat hit and a little deeper flavor. Others feel exactly the opposite way. It's all very subjective. If you don't experience any allergic reaction to PG then try both and see what you think. If you get an allergic reaction from PG you'll want to use VG exclusively.
