PG/VG as a moisturizer?

Has anyone ever used PG or VG as a moisturizer for their skin or lips? I have researched their use in cosmetic products and they are added to serve as a sort of moisturizer. They are hygroscopic and used as humectants which means that they retain water and I was wondering if anyone has used it as a type of lotion of sorts.

Never tried it as a moisturizer, but that's the section I found it in at cvs when I snagged some.

There is one person I know of who swears that VG is the cure to dry winter skin.
