Hello. I've been vaping about 6 months now. I know what the difference is between these two juices, but still have a couple of questions. Up until now I've been vaping 100% VG juices.

1. Does VG cause coils to burn out quicker? As in getting the coil caked with juice, requiring it to be cleaned and dry burned?
2. What is the minimum percentage of PG I could use that would alleviate juice eventually leaking out of the sides of my eVod tanks, which I'm assuming is the juice breaking down the plastic windows. I've only had this happen on 3 eVod tanks in six months, but it's often enough that I'm over it, and want something changed.

Thanks in advance!

When you say "breaking down," are you referring to the plastic window cracking? Do you have any juice leaking from the base of the Evod?
Speaking of which, what is the e-juice you are using?

No, I've never seen a crack in one of the windows. But at least on three of the tanks, the juice is leaking around the windows. I've never had a problem with juice leaking around the base of the tanks. I'm just assuming the juice is breaking down the glue or something around the windows. I have normally noticed it pooling around the bottom edge of the window.

The juices I've noticed this with is Johnson Creek 100% VG Wisconsin Frost and now HHV Cin City 80VG/20PG.

if you add more PG it will leak more. Its like adding 5W-20 to a car with 5W-40 that's already an oil leaker. PG is less viscous, way less viscous usually. its one of the reasons i dont like 100 VG. that and the taste, 50/50 tastes better, flows better, goes up wicks better, mixes flavors better and easier to add to clearos since it flows better than hot molassas

I'm not sure I understand when you say you don't like 100VG. Did you mean you don't like 100PG because it's too thin? Also, I understand that a leaky tank isn't going to fix itself. What I'm asking is if using a juice with more PG in it (I've currently only used 80% VG and 20% PG or 100% VG), will it reduce the likelihood of the juice ruining the plastic in my eVod tanks.

Also, if anyone knows about my other question: whether or not a high concentration of VG causes the deterioration of plastic lined tanks more than PG juices.

My only guess would be the ejuice you are using is reacting with the plastic/glue. I was under the impression that the evod is a single plastic tube that is encased within a thin aluminum sleeve. The only 2 part contact point that I can see might be at the top where the tip is separated via the silver ring.

If you tip the evod upside down, do you notice any juice leaking from that spot?

Also, do you notice any fogging on the plastic anywhere?

Sounds like you're using a juice that shouldn't be used in plastic tanks and should only be used in glass tanks. I don't think a higher PG content would make a difference. I'm not sure about the VG gunking up coils but I would assume it would do it more so than PG. In general PG carries more flavor and throat hit and VG makes more vapor. I vapes 50/50 which seems to be about a perfect balance of the two. I also don't have any glass tanks so I keep away from liquid known to damage plastic.

I only get leaking out of the mouthpiece when refilling it, while it's upside down, and only sometimes. But I've heard that's due to the release of the vacuum it creates while vaping. I don't notice any fogging.

@erikbal, it seems that most juices I've seen that are VG based, or that contain a high concentration of VG state that they're not to be used in plastic tanks.

I do know that cinnamon/citrus/peppermint heavy flavors tend to not do well with plastic tanks. Sounds like the Wisconsin Frost is menthol/mint based, and I'm guessing Cin City is short for Cinnamon?

The best alternative I could recommend if those are your favorite flavors is to switch over to the Kanger Protank2 mini since the tank is Pyrex and you still keep the slim profile. Its basically the same bottom coil system and juice capacity, except you can use your own drip tip with the PT2 mini. Unfortunately, I don't think the evod coils are compatible, although protank coils do work in the evods. Hope that helps!

I've got a PT2 mini. I don't necessarily mind it, but it's a version one with a metal tip, and the tip gets very cold to the touch, not to mention the taste of metal. Not sure what genius thought of putting a metal tip on a tank. And although I've heard much jibber jabber about the 2nd versions with removable drip tips, I've not seen one for sale. Some sites even state that it's the V2, but upon closer inspection, it's the one with the fixed tip. I also think the PT2 mini has a much cooler vape than eVods.

I have 2 Kanger mini PT 2 version 2's with the removable drip tip. There is a version 1 PT2 that has a static tip. I also have a regular Kanger Protank 2 and 6 or 7 EVOD's--some clones & some Kangers. I have had the issue of my liquid seeming to drip out of the windows occasionally but it appears to be temperature related like condensation on a glass of ice water. It only happens when I'm filling them or coming in from outside. My stepson has experienced the same.

I have also used many menthols, cinnamons, a natural strawberry & an oil based orange in my EVODs. The oldest one that was most often abused with such liquids has some frosting & I purposely left a strong oil based orange sit in one just to see if it would crack. It didn't crack but the liquid went from bad to worse during the experiment. I do believe some type of leaching action was taking place with the plastic & the citrus oil. Yes, I still use them but neither one leaks but I don't put orange, lemon, menthol or cinnamon in them any longer. I haven't had an issue with peppermint. It's one of my daily vapes so maybe it just doesn't stay in the tank long enough.

I didn't like the taste of metal tips on my Protanks at first either but I got used to it or the metal is broken in now. It is still a shock if it gets cold and you grab it instead of one of the EVODs without looking first.
