PG vs. VG

The primary difference between Propylene glycol (PG)and glycerol is that PG tens to cause more respiratory tract irritation than glycerol.

Glycerol is among one of the most commonly used chemicals in the pharma industry and is also found in products from washing detergents to diet bars. I would suggest that Glycerol is the safer choice. Both chemicals, if produced to Ph Eur undergo testing for the most common impurities(DEG etc)

Yes to above,,,,the main difference that I read concerning the PG vs VG is what you actually prefer verses the dangers of one over the other...I prefer VG mostly 70% and 30% PG, due to more vapor and the flavoring is good..A lot of people like PG because of the flavoring and TH hit....So, do what I did and experiment and see what works for you...Also, it is a great excuse to order more juice......and try different flavors...lol...
Enjoy the Adventure..

If you say so. :)

Well, not just me, but other all vg users too. I gotta admit it was a concern of mine before I switched to all vg. But I've found after 2 months of vaping only vg that it's a myth...really. I see it all the time in these forums and it's always said by people who don't vape all vg.

My cleanest atty is one that I use only for my 100% vg 0nic vape without flavoring (just a drop of vg based menthol/ml) that's going on 2 months w/o any cleaning...vape at least 2+ hours every evening with it (my evening vape).

Again Joe, it's not only me, and it certainly wasn't directed at you. This misinformation almost stopped me from switching to vg. I just don't want to see it perpetuated, that's all.

Not sure how to respond. I'm not providing misinformation, just telling you what I've experienced when using several VG juices. My attys foul in a matter of hours. I do not vape 0 nic unflavored VG so perhaps you're right. :)

I have been vaping for 8 days now, after 40 yrs of smoking Marlboro Reds. I stopped analogs as soon as I started vaping, just did not want them anymore and immediately fell in love with vaping .. hooray!

I have been vaping with a Marlboro tobacco flavor, 36 mg .. and I love it because it has mostly PG in it and gives me a big throat hit.

Over the past few days I've received several orders, from different companies, of various different liquids. I wanted to try some flavors. But most of them have a majority of VG in them .. some have only VG.

They smell great in the bottle, but when I vape with them they give me no throat hit at all and some of them barely have any vapor.

I thought that VG is suppose to give lots of vapor? I have an eGo with the new mega cartos .. I get tons of throat hit from my Marlboro juice and lots of vapor .. so I know the problem isnt my PV.

I havent just tried VG from one supplier .. I've received some from 3 different suppliers and the same thing .. no throat hit and hardly any vapor.

Am I doing something wrong or is this the way VG works for everyone else?

Good Work stashbldr - don't quit quitting! Don't have an answer for ya tho... VG vapes for me in a standard 510.. I use mostly 100% PG tho.

To the OP.... I've heard that, at high temps, VG can produce some nasty compounds that PG does not. Although, most stock stuff doesn't get that hot (a PV produces less than tobacco anyway).

Personally, I'd want at lest some PG so that it helps keep the atty cool and reduce the potential problems from VG (assuming PG vaporizes at a lower temp than PG). And assuming you are not sensitive to one or the other.

Anyone else know about this or have better info?

As long as you buy from a reputable supplier who uses food-grade (USP) PG and VG, worrying about whether glycerin (VG) or propylene glycol is more natural is a waste of effort.

You are ingesting PG every day. Did you take a "coated" aspirin or gel cap or use an inhaler?" You had PG. Did you have salad dressing or a Big Mac? More PG. Your beer and your flavored coffee also have PG. (And the cigarettes you used to smoke did too.)

Unless you are actually allergic to PG, this is not a problem. Some people break out in hives or have severe itching. They need to vape VG only. For the rest of us, PG is a little more drying than VG is -- drink more water.

For me, 100% PG dries me out too much and 100% VG gives me a slight stomach ache. If I use a blend with 20%-30% VG, all is well.

stashbldr, I'm surprised you're not getting vapor from VG. It's usually all PG that reacts that way. Maybe your liquid is too thick. Check in the DIY area and see about thinning it (I think they use vodka or distilled water, but I won't swear to it.)

Aloha Stash!

If you want th, stay away from high vg content. Even at 36mg nic, all vg juice has a very, very soft th. For good th, an 80/20 pg/vg mix or stronger would work. Strong flavors also gives more th vs. milder flavors. TV's Atomic Cinnacide, for example, has a good th even at 0 nic.

vg produces massive vapor. I'm a dripper, and when I exhale it almost obscures my monitor...no exaggeration. You mention that you used mega cartos, and I've read mixed reviews on them. Use your standard atty and try dripping your juices other than the MB tobacco. I think you'll find your high vg content juices will have great vapor and soft th depending on flavor. Dripping minimizes the variables (only atty and juice, no wicking factors), so it's the best way to evaluate the characteristics of a juice, imo. Saves a lot of juice too when testing mixes.

Hope that helps Stash...Good Luck!
