So, the first kit I bought came with 3 different setups which included a Phoenix atomizer. I have never really messed with it much because it didn't have a tank but now that I have been rebuilding my PT2 I would like to see what dripping is all about. I know this is an older style rba so there doesn't seem to be much talk about it, but if some folks out there are using and enjoying this setup I would like to hear what works for you. I do have some 3mm silica wick, but I have really come to appreciate cotton wicks because of the great wicking and lack of any extra flavors besides the juice. Hopefully someone out there can give me the low down on this setup. I am just wanting to know what different types of builds for it has been attempted and what were your results.

you mean the long skinny Phoenix? still one great little dripper and i will always make sure i have a couple laying around. people are doing just about everything in those micro's mini's cotton etc. what ever you want to use should work fine.

nothing special but heres mine running some 3mm silica at 1.2 ohms.

Well, I built a coil that came out at 1.9 ohms and used a cotton wick. I wet the wick and blew across it while firing it for a second and it worked. So, I put it back together and added a few more drops then took a toot. The flavor is overwhelming and there is very little vapor. It chokes me bad and it's like I am getting wy too much flavor or something. I have tried lowering and raising the watts with about the same effect. What am I missing? I have had pretty good luck with my PT2 at 7 watts. Would this need more, or less power for somereason? I just took another toot and it is a bit more tolerable, but still overwhelming.

couple things probably - the coil has to be close to the edge and the airhole has to be lined up with the coil. you may have to adjust the coil height as well so the air hits it just right
you also got to get the wick in one of these really god and wet.
WOW!!! Indexing the hole to line up better with the coil and lifting the coil a bit made a huge difference! I think I can mak it better by keeping these things in mind while building the coil so that I get closer to spot on. Can you add too much juice, aside from it spilling over the sides of the well? How many drops of liquid do you use at a time, and is ther a drop in vapor production before you need to add more liquid, or do you add juice when it starts getting a hint of burnt taste? Sorry about all of the questions, but you seem to be "in the know" on this type of atomizer.

no problem man, the pheno can hold a lot of liquid, as long as you dont fill it all the way up so the coil is under the juice it will be ok usually a decent wick will let you know it is going dry, it will be like 3-4 strange tasting hits and vapor starts droipping before it gets a burned taste.

also if the draw is tight try drilling it out just a tiny bit, a little more air can make a lot more vapor. I have mine drilled to 1.3mm

the phoenix was one of my first and is pretty much the granddaddy that started the RDA craze, they are cheap, they work well and are always worth having around if for nothing else then a backup. used to be nicknamed the muffler (like the car mufflers) lol

can get a boxful from fasttech cheap @4 bucks a pop lol

if its built like most you can see the pins are closer to one side then the other.
on this pic if you build the coil on the right side it will be pretty close to the airhole.

hard to believe this crappy lil coil made the vapor in the other pics i posted LOL

Man, thanks for all of the info! I wrapped another coil and had indexing with the hole in mind when I did and it is hitting pretty good now. I still think I can improve on it a bit than what I have now, but I am more than happy with the vapor production and the flavor really comes through after a few draws. It feels good to have it working, considering it has been collecting dust for months. But, whitout the right setup the thing is virtually unusable and tastes like your drinking the juice instead of vaping it! Thanks again, and I will let you know when I get her dialed in just right. :)
