Just got a Phoenix in the mail today and I seem to be having a few issues with it. I am using the coil that came pre-installed on it and I'm getting almost no vapor but ridiculously strong flavor and TH... to the point that it is unpleasant to vape. The coil is reading 1.8 ohms and I am running it on an evic set at 7W. juice is Zikwid Black (18mg). I dripped about 12 drops onto the coil to start off in order to saturate the wick. The other issue I noticed is that one of the terminal posts seems to be a bit loose. It looks like it is supposed to be press fit into a hole in the base. I was able to press it in with my thumb to get it snug though I could pull it out just as easily.... is this normal? I watched several videos on the Phoenix but haven't seen anything about either of these issues. Any help would be appreciated as this is my first venture into the world of rba's

I'm not familiar with the Phoenix, I'm assuming it has an adjustable air hole like most other RBAs? If so, you want the air hole right over the coil, this will give less throat hit and more vapor. If you are currently using it with the airhole far off from the coil, that would explain the lack of vapor and crazy TH.

Ok, thanks for the advice everyone. I have included a photo of the coil. The air hole on the top cap sits just above the upper edge of the base. In other words, it's right where the giant mass of silica wick is. I'm thinking perhaps I should trim the wick so it won't interfere with the airflow. I would just build a new coil except I didn't think to order extra wick/coil making materials when I placed the order. In my defense, I woke up in the middle of the night last Friday and ordered it while half asleep...because that's what all reasonably minded people do, right?

Or you can just push them aside or into the "tank". lol i ordered my first PV and batt w.o the charger.

Success! I stuffed the wick down further and lined up the air hole with the coil and it's working much better now. I'm noticing a slightly "off" taste but nothing terrible. Thank you again everyone.

Is that a v1 phoenix? I was disappointed that in mine, I could not move the air hole without having the top cap sit loose on the threads.. and my air hole inconveniently lines up with the taller post. Mine just screws down and sits flush on the base so that it is not practically adjustable. :( Did you encounter this problem?

A drip tip o-ring is a good fix for this. Unscrew the top cap a few turns and work the o-ring down past the cap. You can adjust the air hole and put it exactly where you want and the cap will be secure.
