Bought a Phoenix rba clone (wanted original but they only had clones in stock) and had a few queries

1) From its design it is only meant for dripping, is that right?

2) How much liquid can the little reservoir hold?

3) If I wanted to rebuild with cotton wick, can I?

4) Does anyone have links to videos showing how to rewick with cotton and which cotton should I buy?

Thanks! :vapor:

Hey Genoxy, I also just got a pheonix (clone) to dive into rba's myself based on recommendations from some of the ECF IRC folks. I'll do my best to answer:

1. Yes it's only for dripping. Laying on it's side will cause leaking.

2. Around 10-15 drops. Mostly this should be soaked up by the wick, I find with a pool of liquid I got even more leaking (out of the air hole for example).

3. Yes I believe so. I'm using silica but cotton should work here.

4. Re wicking with cotton should be functionally identical to silica once you get it into a strand. If you have it in some kind of sheet, you'll need to cut it into a smaller strip and roll it into a strand I believe. Then just wrap your coil around that. With cotton you want un-bleached and un-died. One source I remember seeing is the sterile cotton gauze which is available at any pharmacy. The sterile part seems like it would make it very safe to vape.

Another trick I learned is that the air hole is quite tiny on the pheonix. I picked up a "needle file" and bored out the hole a little to reduce the harsh hot vape and it helped. Some used a drill bit but I don't remember the exact size (maybe 3/16ths? I didn't have one anyway).

Happy building.

No prob, good luck bro. It's my first RBA and so far it's too hot to vape! I Filed my air hole out to 1/16th of an inch, lined up the airhole with the wick, and wrapped 8 (the most I could fit in their) of 30awg, but still too hot on 3.2V. 5 or 6 builds and a lot of coughing with no luck. I ordered some 32awg, so maybe I'll have more luck there. Just ordered myself a vamo and an RSST so hopefully that will be nirvana as I did a lot of research, but the pheonix was good practice with coils.

ive got my phoenix set up with a mesh wick and its is pumping out some serious flavor. and the TH is magnificent. it would be nice to have some silica tails on my wick to help soak up excess drops from teh deck but if you guys are getting leaking with fiberous wicks, im in no rush to rebuild. mos tof the liquid gets fed back to the wick anyway when i tilt to vape.
