I have the iStick 50W (loved it) bought another for a backup (love them both). What caferacer said makes perfect sense to me.

My journey...

Subox kit seems like it will be a top notch backup, I currently use the kbox as my backup and love it for that purpose. I agree with the earlier post that another istick30 is probably the ideal back up, I am thinking about getting one as a backup for my backup. As far as tubes and pens I have a few but once you have hit the istick level or higher it is hard to go back to those. They just don't pack the punch you are used to.

I see what you mean, looks as if I have not only quit smoking but picked up a very nice hobby alternative. Thanks for sharing

The hobby aspect of vaping is definitely a plus. Just be careful you don't fall too far down the rabbit hole. Speaking from experience, it can be a really expensive (albeit fun!) fall to the bottom. ;)

Yeah this morning I got the "congratulations for spending $1,000 this year, here's a discount" email from my go to vape site. The sad thing is that instead of thinking "oh no I spent a grand" I thought.. "sweet a discount!"

Thank you for the extended advice I've only been around this for a little over a month now and I am truly happy with things as they are and I'm trying the subohm side of the istick 30 but not really sure if I'm hit it correctly or anything when I press the fire button it starts popping and it seams like I can't take the hit it comes fast so I'm still experimenting with the other tanks I have

It's a sickness, man. And apparently I'm just as ill as you are.

That is what they refer to as mouth to lung vs direct lung hits. The sub ohm tanks are designed for you to pull directly into your lung where standard tanks are designed for you to bring in your mouth then to the lung. Cigarettes are a mouth to lung inhale and so that is much easier adjustment for long time smokers. Direct to lung inhales are like clearing a water pipe (trying to be careful with word choice as this forum avoids certain subjects)

Cool thanks I think I'll just stick to what's working for me at the moment and just let all this take its course I am here for the long haul if you know what I mean

Personally, with all the options out there I would never even think about buying "another of the same please" anything. Unless of course the original broke through misuse(not a flaw) and it was simply great to begin with.
A slight upgrade is always better imo than grabbing a cheap back up device, the new unit often becomes my new "go to" device and the older unit becomes my "back-up". The temp control units/tanks will be my next "back-up" purchase. After all the reviews are in and a more informed decision can be made. ymmv. Cheers.

Which temp control unit? I'm the same way as you, I buy a bit of everything and see what I end up using to determine what I like. I'm on the fence with the temp control but as the prices are dropping I am getting real tempted to grab one of the new cheaper devices and decide if temp control is something I would care about.

Exactly, you will evolve with the hobby in one direction or the other. The tootle puffer vs cloud chaser debate is always entertaining around here and everyone eventually figures out which they prefer. The best thing you can do is just try a few different setups and see what suits you best. Having a solid mech, a solid regulated box and a solid VV stick would be a good plan to see what gets used. A mech with an RDA takes a bit of learning and reading to ensure safety but is a really fun addition to the hobby side of things.
