The Pila IBC Charger has been considered to be one of the best chargers on the market for a few years now. It is probably the “standard” by which all Li-ion chargers are judged. I like to call it the Provari of the mod battery chargers - a very solid build. It doesn't have a fancy LCD screen like some of the recent high end chargers, but it does what it does extremely well. This "intelligent" high quality charger has a 4 stage charging cycle.
Pila Battery Charger process:
Stage 1 - Automatic analyzing battery status
Stage 2 - Quick charge
Stage 3 - Slow charge
Stage 4 - Standby mode, trickle charge
It has been said that the intelligent algorhythms this charger uses may in fact prolong the life expectancy of your
batteries over time. I have a couple of AW 18650 IMR 2000 mAh
batteries that are still in my rotation that are about 16 months old and are performing nearly as well as some that are only a few months old. YMMV.
Mine had been a real workhorse for well over a year, charging multiple sizes of
batteries (14500, 18350, 18490, & 18650). About 3 months ago one of the bays stopped working, so I was in the market for another charger. I would have bought another Pila, but I have since increased the number of mods (9) and batteries (20) I have, I had to go with the four-bay Nitecore i4. The Pila charged my batteries quite a bit faster than the Nitecore does.
