So I just saw an interview with the designer of the manhattan mod by ameravape where he denounced a video in which a reviewer claimed that the manhattan mod is a pipe bomb.

The reviewer claimed that there was no where for the gas to go, and that it was very dangerous....

I have been looking at the FU clones and it will be my daily device supplemented by my twist when being discreet is necessary....

Can someone please tell me if this is actually a dangerous device, or if the reviewer is misinformed? I want to know for sure before I order one....

Thanks guys, I appreciate how helpful everyone on this forum has been so far.

I have not looked in depth at these devices but I think I have read that the FU clone actually improved on the original design by adding vent holes for the battery. I don't know if they are readily visible but if you can see holes in the mod used for venting then that is a good thing. I'm sure someone will come along with first hand experience to give you more insight but my understanding is that the clone is a better device than the authentic.

The reviewer was Todd and the 2 concerns were that the Manhattan was advertised as a competition mod - whatever that is, but you'd imagine that it involved cloud-chasing and sub-ohm coils and that as you mentioned there was no visible venting.

He also posted a video from another user that showed that the switch would vent in the event of a battery going postal, but only at a certain pressure.

Yeah, just one man's opinion.. AV is kind of a sketchy company. They offer a "competition mod" (pls, vaping for sport is kind of silly) with no vent holes, they host cloud competitions (pls, vaping for sport is kind of silly), and they make rules that involve "no clones allowed" in "professional cloudchasing" (pls, VAPING FOR SPORT IS KIND OF SILLY).

I'd get any of the clones over the AV option, just because I don't wanna support them. Among other things, "Ameraclone" is supposedly run by one of the guys who once worked for AV, but broke off because he didn't agree with their business practices.

So idk, you make your own decision, I think AV is an irresponsible, laughable company, selling their mods with minimal venting yet offering a "competition mod". Really, I always thought the AR mod (if it didn't have so many problems) would be the ideal "competition mod", given that a battery would have TONS of room to vent.

A mech mod is not an APV

APV= Advanced personal vaporizer= for advanced users
All mech mods should be used by advanced users who have a understanding of what they are working with.
So all mech mods would be considered APV's.

As for the OP:
Alls mech mods with bottom venting can be dangerous under the right conditions, since batteries vent at the top.
It amazes me the not long ago a mech with bottom venting exploded, then everyone went safety crazy, now we are drowning in mods that share the same problem of bottom venting that caused panic, and the closing down of a vender.

Advanced? A mech mod is advanced? Does not compute.

Well, maybe for certain definitions of advanced. Like simple, bare bones, or primitive. But I tend to view these words as antonyms for advanced, not synonyms.

Note that I have nothing against mech mods. I own and use a few of them myself. And if you want to go on and call them advanced, be my guest, but don't expect many to understand what you mean by it. I certainly don't.

ETA: I see that some take the word "advanced" to refer to the user, not the mod. Ok. Maybe then a more descriptive term would be Personal Vaporizer for Advanced users (PVA?).

Nah, relax, I kid.

(Or do I?)

So are you opposed to these type of mods in general?

Considering I have some 20 Mechanical Mods and a Dozen drippers..........................

I'm going with No :D

Now, take the Manhattan design, add 3 slots (Not Boring Holes) to the lower tube just above the threading and the upper tube just below the threading.

Excellent Full blown Vents that might just look decent and will allow Rapid Gas exhaust at either or both ends of the Tube.

Nemesis has considerably better venting than the Manhattan and it was never intended for Competition.
