I grew up in Missouri, lived in Lawrence (Kansas's one redeeming factor) for 5 years...and I'd give it to Missouri by a nose for being a prettier state - hills, woods, lakes and streams.
But I am a Jayhawk fan for life.

it's a silly argument though, you should all move to the Pacific NW. :)

Yes, Lawrence is the one safe spot in Kansas. Leave Lawrence and youre in KANSAS! I got a books worth of Missouri jokes in my head that Im refraining from posting. Its real hard, but Ill be nice lol. Ive been to Portland a few times. Reminds me of Lawrence a little bit.

When did you live in Lawrence?

Yup. I was here from '93-2000 and then moved back in '06. Still the same town, for the most part, except 6th St is built up out west. The students are starting to filter back so gotta watch out for noobs driving the wrong way down Kentucky or Tennesee St lol

You are defiantly living in your own little slice of paradise now Em.

Myself, I think I'll stick to SF and Seattle. Loafing at the family place in Sonoma for now with the wife and the wiener girls.

I dunno...I moved out here w/no job, unsure housing, and one small trailer full of 3 people's worldly possessions....and somehow it worked out.
Granted I was young and dumb......and ok, I probably wouldn't chance it again. ;)

Awww, that brings back memories.
The last year I was in Lawrence I lived on Kentucky (1629), and we joked it was more entertaining to stay in and sit on the front porch and watch the drivers and 18 year olds stumble home from the bars than it was to go out ourselves ;)

I went back about 5 years ago to visit, I'm going to have to swing through the next time I visit fam in Missouri.

It was defiant (couldn't resist) until a few years ago, but my parents finally came around and admitted it was a great decision...and they look for any opportunity to come visit me. We're going to the San Juan Islands (above Seattle for you non NW'ners) in September -- now there's a slice of paradise!!

I do miss a good thunderstorm and fireflies....but otherwise Pacific NW wins for sure :)
