OK so to get started vaping quickly (didn't want to buy another pack of cigarettes... like, ever), I went to a local shop and just bought what they had, which was a very basic eGo kit. I knew as I was handing them the $26 it wasn't what I wanted, but I figured it would keep me from smoking while I did the research needed to figure out what to buy. And it has.

So I've been reading and scanning the forum here pretty much nonstop, as well as watching YouTube reviews and how-to's, etc, and I think I am close to knowing what I want and what will work best. Here is my plan - please feel free to tell me if it sucks, if the pieces won't work well together, or if I need to order anything else along with. I won't be offended - all comments and suggestions welcome!

Keep in mind that I want something that is made of glass (so no matter what flavor of juice I graduate to in the future, I'll be able to vape it without fear of cracking my tank). Also, I'm trying to keep the pricing as low as possible, while still getting equipment that is beautiful, produces great vapor with best possible flavor, doesn't leak or malfunction, is cheap to maintain, and will last a long time. This is what I have come up with.

1) Battery:
Smoktech Winder VV Ego 900mAh
Smok Tech VV Winder 900 mah
$16.89 with coupon

2) Tank
Kanger Protank Clearomizer with Pyrex Glass Tank (2.5mL) silver / 2.5Ω
$12.09 Kanger Protank Clearomizer with Pyrex Glass Tank (2.5mL) - silver / 2.5
$12.09

3) Possible Fix-it
"The airy draw on a ProTank can be fixed easily and cheaply. Just replace the heads that come with it with EVOD heads. The posts are shorter, but they screw in perfectly."
Atomizer Head for Kanger EVOD
Atomizer Head for Kanger EVOD eGo Bottom Coil Clearomizer
$1.50

4) Liquid
No idea on this - I ordered three flavors from Mount Baker with 50/50 PG/VG but I discovered after I had completed the order that I don't get along with VG very well, so that may not work out. They haven't arrived yet so I'll have to report back on that. I'm starting to realize that the search for the right juice(s) may take longer than anything else in my noble quest for the perfect set-up.

Am I missing anything? Thoughts?:laugh::2cool::vapor:

Don't look like a bad list to me, but I would recommend getting 2 of the batteries and at least 2 of the toppers (protanks or whatever you want).

This way, if something fails, or needs to sit to charge/air dry, you have something to fall back on.

Good luck to you!

Oh, and the search for your ADV juices could take awhile, keep getting sample packs if you can. If what you ordered comes in, and you give it a fair try, and still don't like it, you can pass it on to a friend or another newbie to help them out!

I can definitely vouch for the Protank and personally I don't find it too airy either. And if you think it is you'll get used to it so fast that after a few hours of vaping less airy ones might seem too tight..

I also read that you can plug up one or two of the air holes with something if it is too airy... But I figure you have to change out the head at some point anyway, right?

Makes sense - I'll do that.

Hey I'm really new here. Been lurking a little bit. Your setup looks really nice. I'm shopping and trying to figure out my first setup. I have a hard time making decisions, So I think I'm here to thank you for a possible template! hehe :) Thanks! Yeah I'm definitely having a hard time on where to start with liquid too. I see so many different kinds and there is a lot of opinion good and bad on a lot. Like most I'm coming in here thinking I want something that reminds me of my analogs but it seems most move away from that pretty quick and seem to really enjoy the flavors.

I guess you could do that yes. Probably also depends on what device you are using it on. On my Provari at least the draw is perfect for me. The Protank uses replaceable atomizers and you do get one spare. They do seem to last though. The ones I've replaced I've thrown away because of e liquids I didn't like. Not because they needed replacing.

Also it's pretty easy to clean :)

That setup sounds pretty awesome. I have run into the airy draw on the protank, and literally have just ordered some EVOD heads to combat this. Also I know on these style batteries the protank looks kind of "top heavy".e Kanger T3s have a very similar setup. Unless you need the glass tank, in which case i have seen (but never used) a mini protank. Hopefully though, its all you every hoped and dreamed! :D

When I started I was looking to find the closest match to Marlboro lights. I've yet to find a tobacco flavor I like. But I've found flavors I enjoy a lot more than my Marlboro anyway :)

If you're used to menthols it does do a pretty good job of emulating normal cigs. And if not its definitely a flavor I'd pick up ith my first order. I can personally say I really enjoy the CoolMist from Halo :)

Very good point about the top-heaviness - to be honest, I was a little worried about that. Thanks for telling me about the mini protank - I actually think that would be better for this set up... although since it's brand new to the market, it's a bit of an unknown.

Found one for pre-order here - they are coming in on the 15th of this month:

Kanger Mini Protank
Kanger Mini Protank - Viper Vape Inc
$13.99

You are welcome! I will also report back on the pros and cons of the setup if that will help, but I doubt you want to wait that long before you buy something. ;o)

Yeah the search for the right juices is really daunting - I need to find a good vape shop so I can try stuff out. There's one over on 7th St. here in Phoenix - close to downtown. Hoping it turns out to be a place I can sample a lot of flavors with a variety of PG/VG content...

What I found difficult mostly was the "right" eliquid. I mean the whole thing with the hardware doesn't mean anything unless you are happy with your juice. So I'd say: yeah, go for what you have chosen but just don't forget that it's the juice that gives you the taste in most cases and not the hardware (some pro people will argue that, but well, for a beginner it won't make much sense). And I will definitely vote for the post suggesting getting extra battery etc. Stability is also an important thing you are looking for imo, you should make sure you won't run out of vapor otherwise all the money and effort you put into it will be waisted.

Smoktech is coming out with a metal/pyrex slim style clearo also, called the Aro pyrex (or something like that). Vapor Joe's had it listed, and a few folks have added it to their blogs on ECF also once I pointed it out. Would be something to check out!

Edit - just found a protank mini on Ebay - total price for me was about $13 with shipping included, as I had a $2 coupon waiting to be used. Can't beat that price so I went ahead and ordered it. On the way to great vaping - excited!!! Here's the link if anyone else wants one: Kanger Protank Mini | eBay

Totally get what you're saying - the trouble is with juices, it doesn't matter what other people recommend... I can't tell what I'm going to like until I try it. Makes it so hard! Hopefully a vaper meet up and finding a good vape shop will go a long way toward solving this integral piece of the puzzle.

Multiple clearomizers needed you can clean them but I have found the taste to transfer plus it's good to have a few extra if you want to change flavors throughout the day good luck on the search for your juice there are a wide variety of juices out there. As far as your battery after my first ego I bought the provari and never looked back.

What is it about VG you don't like? I normally get 50/50 but have bought ejuices that are almost 100% VG (alien vision) and I'm really enjoying them as well..........

What types of ejuices do you prefer, fruity, sweet, tobacco, etc? That way others can post up some recommendations.... If there are no shops local to you your best bet is to start off with the small bottles like 5ml (or alot of sites even have sample packages that are discounted) that way if you don't like it you didn't waste a ton of money on it......
