Hi Kat! I believe you go to edit your first post and change the prefix next to the title to close. Though, I could be wrong

You aren't incompetent or going crazy (well I might be wrong about that second part ). Only mods can close threads. I think you can do it within a few hours after starting the thread but otherwise a mod has to do it.
