As the topic states. Im a current smoker and have smoked for 20 years now. Im a 1/2 to 1 pack a day smoker and want to quit and make the switch to vaping. I have read for hours on this forum and watching youtube videos and im still confused as to what I should start out with. Im looking for a good Th and battery life and also want something not to big.
Ive tried the njoy disposable ones first and those suck big time. The other day a family member bought a e cig from a local smoke shop for like $90 for two and a charger. Its kind of big and has a clear tank for the juice. I have no idea what model this is????It has the manual button and I tried it with the menthol flavor and it was good. Big throat hit. I was thinking about going down there and buying one as my family member also said it had a one year warranty on the batteries. Only thing is I dont know anything about these and if the one he has is reliable.

I have also been looking at these totally wicked tornado and they seem like they would be good as well. But they look like they are different then the clear tank one I tried. Is there a good tornado model I should be looking at as far as good th and battery life. I go on there website and im lost. Please someone steer me in the right direction.

Im looking for not to big design, good battery life, good throat hit to simulate a real cig and low maintenance and user friendly. I just want to get started soon as im so ready to finally quit the real cigs.

Thanks for any help or advice.

First off you'll need reputable suppliers. I prefer US-Based ones as the shipping is typically fast. China might be cheaper but you'll wait up to two weeks.

Vendors I use:
MyFreedomSmokes.com
LiteCigUSA.net
GotVapes.com
DiscountVapers.com
SteamMonkey.com

Vendors I hear are good:
RTDVapor.com
MyVaporStore.com

As far as size, battery life, and ease of use go, I'd definitely recomend eGo style batteries. I've always had the best luck with geniune Joyetech. I'd say avoid the "Twists" for now as you can easily pop some weaker carts on the max setting and this brings me to my next point. Get the USB Passthrough type batteries, they come in 650mAh and 900mAh. If you want smaller go for the 650. If an extra inch isn't a big deal, get the 900. The 900 by itself is about 4" long and will last you most of a day with most delivery systems. More often than not these batteries are not part of a kit. These USB style batteries will regulate their voltage to 3.3 for an entire charge which is very nice. They can also be charged WHILE vaping, another good plus for someone trying to quit. Can sit on a computer and read ECF while its charging and you're happily vaping.

Buy two so you will have a backup in case one breaks. Nothing worse than no battery and lots of gas stations with plenty of sickarettes.

Next up you'll need to figure based on your level of mechanical skill which type of delivery system will work the best for you.

Cartomizers + Cone- Probably the easiest to set up but will require regular refills throughout the day. Using a cone just enhances the appearance. Most websites that sell the batteries will sell the matching cones. This method will reduce the life of a cartomizer due to the inevitable dryout.

Cartomizer + Tank + Collar- (SmokTech DCT or UDCT, Boge F15/F17 Skinny)- Requires a bit more fiddling but properly set up won't need a refill for several hours. Extends the life of a cartomizer by several days to up to 2 weeks. Can Leak. Can be frustrating. Requires either Pre-Punched flanged cartomizers or a bit of tinkering with a carto-punch. 1hole for thin juice, 2holes for thicker.

Clearomizers- (Stardust, Kanger, Rebuildable, Disposable)- A very good and easy option. These devices incorporate the heating element inside the tank, less fiddling, fewer leaks. Heads last a good while. Definitely buy an extra as backup even if you do buy the rebuildable option. Avoid citrus/cinnamon/acidic flavors with these, those are known to crack the plastic tanks.

With any of the above options, assuming you took my advice about being able to vape while charging to help quit smoking, tend to buy "Low Resistance" types. Go for ~1.8-2ohms for a nice warm vape with decent clouds of vapor. On a 3.3volt Ego you'll be vaping at 5-6 watts which is pretty respecatble. Just keep in mind low resistance will make the battery die a bit faster so consider the 900mAh batteries, and I think some sites have the USB style in 1000mAh now too.

Best of luck and if you have any questions you've come to the right place!

I would second this, nice set up, 900mah batteries and CE4s.... easy vaping!

If your not sure and want to try the set up buy this and if your like it then get the bigger kit:

eGo 650mAh w/ CE4 Clearomizer Blister Pack Starter Kit - MyFreedomSmokes.com

That's a good backup kit, making it a good try out kit. If your unsure about spending money on something that might not work for you, go for that. You can always upgrade later :)

Juice matters, and they are all different. USA based is the best, you will find some you don't like, but great stuff is out there, it's trial and error, as we all taste different

Congrats on making the switch! Once you start, you might grow to dislike real cigarettes like so many other members here! Just like everyone else writes, start with a basic starter kit, smaller battery, 510 threaded, etc. You can find plenty online for good prices but if there is a local vape shop in your area don't hesitate to go there and get some advice and help support the local economy! Happy vaping!

If you are comfortable with a magic marker-sized device I would give a big +1 for the Vapor Beast Twist starter kit to which KraKsX linked. I have purchased 8 batteries (own 5 and gifted 3) in that class and the Vapor Beast ones are my favorites. The voltage numbers are easy to read and the light ring changes color as the battery becomes depleted so you have warning before it goes dead. Also, Vapor Beast's customer service is superb and includes phone support.

The Twist class of battery is variable voltage (VV) which means that you can just turn the knob on the bottom to adjust the power to the taste and throat hit that you prefer. Start low and dial up. No/little vapor means the power is too low and a burnt taste means it is too high.

This video explains how the Twist class of batteries work.

Also, pick up an NJOY King disposable cig-alike which is available at most any convenience store. They are too expensive to use long term but they simulate the act of smoking an actual cigarette very well. Use the NJOY for times you might find yourself craving cigarettes. I quit from vape one using a cig-alike device and needed the psychological crutch it provided. Some people do fine without bothering with cig-alikes.

If you find yourself using the NJOY so often as to be too expensive pick up a Joye eRoll. It is a dead simple to use cig-alike that packs a wallop for its size.

Many online vendors offer solid, basic starter kits for well under $25 that consist of either 650 or 1100mah batteries that come with a USB charger, and a CE4 clearomizer. Add a ten dollar bottle of e-liquid, and you're off and running for well under 40 bucks. Cuecig (one of the three vendors I order from) has a 650mah eGo Twist starter kit for $23.95, and free shipping for orders over $35.00.

If you really want a disposable. Check these out [best deal is just first pack, I wouldn't buy more for the money]
Free Trial (Plus Shipping)
$5 it's a good deal for what it is, taste is good, doesn't last long [70 pulls tops?]

Egos are the best and save the most money, and they are smaller then most cigars

Two juice vendors I love are:
TheVaporRoom.net
Mtbakervapor.com

Hello, FISH, and welcome to ECF.

If you like the Tornado batteries, we're halfway there. Tornados are Joyetech eGos rebranded for Totally Wicked. If you don't have to have that little red devil on your battery, you can get the same thing for less. :D

My standing recommendation to new vapers is to get some kind of a variable voltage battery (eGo-C Twist or Vision Spinner) and a couple of clearomizers. Variable voltage is a very useful feature, which you'll understand as soon as you'll start using your new toys. One kit that has all those components is the widely recommended here kit from MyVaporStore:

http://www.myvaporstore.com/Vision_Spinner_Joye_Ego_C_Twist_Combo_p/vvs-c.htm

You can customize it also, which is very nice.

i would also recommend that you visit a B&M vaping store in your area and get some hands-on experience. There are many great stores everywhere, you can sample some eliquids, play with different batteries, kick the tires. :)

Good luck and happy vaping!

Another good place to look is myfreedomsmokes.com. They have some decent deals and ship rather fast as well. I would agree with the recommendations about the ego twist/spinners. When and if you do step up to bigger things, you can always hold those as back ups or even pass them on to a loved one that you are trying to win over. It is so much better to win them over with something that works vs. something like Blu.

I am also new to vaping after 50 years of smoking. I researched a lot before purchasing my "kit". I chose the eGo Twist 1000mAh battery-I bought 2 and 2 Mini ViVi Novas, a rapid usb charger. I'm very happy with them. As far as the batteries go I use them for about a day and a half and then I charge them, but they never quit working or not providing a good vape I will continue to purchase different tanks just to try something different. I do think the juice you get is very important. I bought the Vermillion River "Kentucky Applewood" on the recommendation of my son along with Kmax and a couple of others. I love the Kentucky Applewood so much I haven't tried the others as yet. It took me a while to buy because there is so much info out there I went on overload! I haven't had a real cig since I got my kit. Don't miss them either, which really surprises me because I smoked over a pack and a half a day. When I get the urge I just vape and it is very satisfying. I go thru about 3 mils a day of e juice. Good luck...I hope you find the set up that works for you!

I use the twists myself when on the go or at work topped off with an evod or vision mini vivi. Perfect size, adequate battery and no leaking to worry about. At home, I use my apv and mess with my rba's

That would be me as well. Better to tear up a twist than an expensive mod and RBA's leak everywhere if not standing up.
