I have been asking in another thread about how to refill my njoy NPro carts, and I think I understand how to do it.

But now I am asking about which type of solution is best for my specific application and the general difference between the two main solutions: Propolyne Glycol and Vegetable Glycerin.

Is one safer or better than the other?

Also I have seen some Valerian Root (sleep aid) ecig solutions, I think on ePuffer's site...anyone have any experience with this stuff? I currently take Benadryl sometimes when I have trouble sleeping. Maybe I could try this Valerian Root ecig juice. :vapor:

The "best" for your hardware is usually thinner and clearer, which can be achieved by the flavor you select (PG is thinner, but VG can be thinned). Nobody knows which is safer for your body - what we know least about is flavorings and additives. Vape flavors, take supplements if you need them.

I use 50% VG/50% PG. I like the extra vapor from VG. I never go over 10% flavoring.

Like Nic said , Usually a mixture of both , gives the best results . Pg , being thinner , tends to not mute flavors , as much as VG does , but if , like me , you like lots of vapor , you use a bit more VG . And like mentioned above . You can thin down VG , with a little distilled water (drops) or vodka, or PGA (pure grain alcohol ) Maybe try ordering a few different juices , with different % of pg/vg , and see what works best for you . The 3 and 5 ml. samples , are fairly cheap .

Glycol is just another name for Glycerin

PG Propylene Glycol is thin, lets through the most flavor, the most of nicotine's TH and irritation, makes thinner looking vapor
VG Vegetable glycerine (aka vegetable glycol) is thick, dulls/smooths everything PG lets through, and makes thicker visible vapor

I find stuffing cartomizers on slim ecigs work best with juices that have 20% or less VG (the hotter cartomizers fat battery models can use may be able to use slightly thicker liquid)

Reservoir cartos and tanks like the thickness of 20-30% VG

Normal atomizers can use any PG/VG as long as it flows at least as fast as you vape it

FYI - PG vapor is what hospital use for inhalation therapy to deliver inhaled medications, even for lung transplant patients.

One thing that worries me is what makes up these compounds. Is this stuff considered an alcohol?

The reason I ask is because I do not drink beverage alcohol, in fact I haven't drank in years, and I don't want to have anything to do with alcohol entering into my system. Is this stuff an alcohol, and if so is there any chance of getting alcohol like effects from it? From vaping, I mean.

If there is, I really can't use this stuff anymore. thanks.

No chance of alcohol effects..

I have a couple of juices that clearly state there is alcohol in them. For fun lets run through the math of vaping enough alcohol to get high.. Think about how little you vape on a daily basis. The average user is 2-4 ml.. There are 750ml in a fifth or roughly 350ml in a 12oz can.. Even if the alcohol content was equal to PGA/Everclear you still wouldn't consume enough to feel the effects. The average 1 oz pour has about 30ml in it.. You would have to vape 10 times what the average person does in a day in less than 10 minutes to take a shot of vodka. I think you would probably get sick from the nicotine before you felt the booze..

I haven't drank in over 7yrs, & this doesn't bother me at all..

I would say no as far as effects from alcohol or I wouldn't vape either. There may be a small amount in the base just like there are in some flavorings like vanilla for example.

I'm looking at the label of Vapor Station's juice an alcohol isn't listed in the ingredients. You could always contact a juice vendor and double check with them.

Maybe someone else will answer that knows a little more about juice.

Like against pneumonia, influenza, etc. I have red a great scientific article on that but can't find it by now. Otherwise I've found this one from Time Magazine that helps understand better the ways they employ the PG in hospitals.

Medicine: Air Germicide - TIME

Read the article.. Pretty interesting.. Everyone should take a peak at that..

Wasn't someone talking about using a fog machine as a PV? Sounds like someone beat them to it.. We should mail the monkeys some Gorilla Juice..

Helpful, Stud. Valerian isn't medication and an MD is unlikely to have any useful opinions on vaping it.

Chauncy: PG is thinner, produces less vapor and more TH (Throat hit) and VG is thick, produces more vapor, but tends to mute flavors and provides less TH. Try a 50/50 mix and move one way or the other depending on your results and preferences.
