Okay so I have a question that I can't find the answer to and I've literally looked all over the internet. I've been building for about 6 months now but I still know very little about ohms law and how all of it works (I know that's bad). But my question is, if you have the same coil. Would you have more ohms with a single or dual coil build? And also. I'm getting the ipv3 and sigelei 150 watt in a couple of weeks and they each have a ohm limit of about 0.1. I have 20 gauge wire, what kind of coil/How many wraps should I do to stay within the boundaries of 0.1 ohm? Sorry for the dumb questions but I really need some help. Thanks:)

The beauty of a high vv/vw mod is that you don't have to build low sub-ohm coils to get a great vape. In fact, building low sub-ohm works against you. Higher ohm coils use more wire which means more surface area to vaporize juice. That increases vapor production.

With a mech mod you increase the warmth of your coil by building lower ohm coils. However, the electronics in a regulated mod boosts the power coming from the battery so the ohms of the coil no longer control the warmth.

My thoughts about sub-ohm and latest VV/VW devices...

As far as batteries you are going to need 30A batteries to run in your 150watt mods. And you are going to need to marry them.

Couldn't have said it any better, so I quoted you lol.

Perfect. :)

The only thing I would add is that with the OP's very limited knowledge I'm glad he/she is using a regulated mod for safety. If the resistance of the build is too low, or shorted, it won't fire and/or explode the battery.

best advice I can give you is to complete your mandatory 5 posts in the new members forum (say hi ! to some people or add your two cents in on a thread or three) and then head over to the mod forums. Read about battery safety, and read about testing coils on a meter before you put them on your new devices. There are a lot of threads and many experts happy to advise you. Safety is very important.

In the meantime, here's a little interactive amp/watt/volt/ohm chart to play with. Fill in two values and it will calculate the rest.

Watts - volts - amps - ohms conversion calculator

Have fun and work safely!

If you are bad in math (ohms law formula) or just don't like math, they have a wonderful app called "Ohms Law" all you do is plug into the app your ohms and watts your using and it will tell you your volts and amps. This is EXTREMELY important because you need to know the AMP LIMIT of your batteries and NEVER exceed that Amp limit. Very important with a unregulated mech mod. Also the app will help you understand how ohms law works. Hope this helps. The app is free by the way.

Hi Jo and welcome aboard!

As said by Susan above, you can actually get more vapor in a VV/VW device with higher ohm coils than you can in a mech mod with low ohm coils. The link she gives above is a very detailed explanation. It might be a bit much on the scienticfic side, but after you've read it, you'll understand a bit better that ohms aren't the only consideration when trying to go after more vapor - especially in the types of devices you are using.

Hope it helps and Happy Vaping!
