I am so desparate to quit cigarettes, i cant take it anymore. A little over a year ago i made a huge attempt to switch to electric cigarettes, ended up with mixed results and wasted close to 500 bucks trying different kinds and buying stuff for them. I think i had an ego cig which was closest to working but i got too frustrated after i tryed to clean it and it was never the same. I was trying to do it by adding my own juice and couldnt get it down to a science. i think it flooded on me among other problems.

Anyway, im ready to try again and i know there is a wealth of info on this site and on others, but its all too overwhelming and so confusing to me!!! All i really need is a recommendation. I used to want one of similar size to a real cig to mimick it, but at this point im over that, all i care about is taste, throat hit, and ease of use. Ease of use is key, i know the prepackaged flavor ones arent as good, but when i would buy my own and drip it in, after a while i would either flood it or couldnt get the old flavor away after adding a new one, was such a PIA i gave up and started smoking cancer sticks again!!! please help..!!!

As for flavors, im a marlboro light smoker but anytime ive had marlboro flavored e cigs it doesnt taste right to me, I was told by someone the menthol flavors are better if you dont like menthol cigs, is this true??

thanks so much in advance for the recommendations!!! i really want to quit this evil things and start vaping asap

Use an eGo or Riva with low resistance cartomizers, then you don't have to keep constantly dripping or filling up cartridges. Fill some up before going out and you're good to go, just unscrew the cartomizer and screw another one on, can't get simpler than that. You can get a Riva kit for 30 bux from Liberty Flights, they even sell the Boge low resistance cartomizers too, then get some decent juice and you're all set.

I would recommended a VV unit. I have the IPro and Buzz Pro from NotCigs. I use the liquinator tanks.
As to the menthol I would suggest you try it or mints. I smoked non-filtered cigs for years and wanted no part of menthol. I finally gave in and tried it and now menthol and mints are my favorite vape.

Here is a setup that I really enjoy and won't bust the bank.

Get two or three Vapor 4 life xl batteries and a charger (and maybe a car charger if money permits) Electronic Cigarette - V4L Vapor4Life - Vapor King - best e-cig - smoking alternatives!

Next, go to Nhaler and get a pack or two of their G5 clearomizers. Right around 10 bucks for 5 and if you don't break them they will last for weeks on end. NHaler • Smoking Alternatives

Then find a juice you like. Get a higher nicotine juice to get started so you can really lean in it during a craving.

Some of my current favorites are: Vapor 4 Life No. 7 at 18 mg
Halo Prime15 and Tribecca at 18mg
nhaler 555 at 24mg<------for having a beer lol. Jumping up to 24 from 18 really seems to get the job done when out having a few.

    Hope this helps!!

Hi mega and I do hope this time is the charm for you. I am kinda new to e-cig, now about 6 weeks. I have also been a bit frustrated, at time, in an attempt to make it easier and get a consistent vape without too much fiddling around.

I smoked Marlboro too but the menthol did not work for me very well, I am still trying to finish a 10ml bottle of juice. I don't think you will find anything that tastes like a cigarrete, my limited experience has shown me that they taste kinda like a freshly opened pack, tabacco smell. That's it.

Anyway, at the present I am using a variable voltage mod, from madvapes and a syringe tank. The box mod has allowed me to dial in the many different cartos now in production and so I don't worry too much about it though I try to stay consistent in what I buy. The syringe tank, really cheap, has made vaping a whole lot easier. Some would say that the flavor drops a bit in using a tank. I am happy with my current setup.

Using and recommending e cigs is difficult because what works for one does not for another and I also believe that not smoking changes our taste buds and that adds another level of difficulty to the process. I am glad I stuck it out.

Smoking cigarette stinks, I know I smoked for 40 plus years and even if I have to struggle to find what works for me it is worth it.

I wish you luck, welcome, and I am sure someone will come along and make some suggestions for you that might work better. In the meantime do not give up and use the resources you have in this site to help you succeed.

    Good luck

I would agree with this. If you've already got an eGo, and if the batteries are still good, then try Low Res cartomizers first...like Boge LR 2.0 Ohm, or Smok Tech (Resurrectors) 1.7 Ohm cartos. This, combined with your own eliquid, would be the cheapest way to re-enter the vaping world. Especially since you may already have some of the equipment...batteries, charger. Using cartridges and atomizers, as you did before, can be a pain in the .... with a relatively steep learning curve, and very frustrating. While cartomizers (cartos) have their learning curve and frustrations as well, it's a cheaper and simpler option, and you'll get more good hits than bad...unlike with atomizers...JMHO.

On the other hand, if you're just too frustrated with the previous experience, and have enough funds, then just jump on over to the "mod" stuff. However, even then, you're just looking more at a different way to power your vaping. They still use pretty much the same cartos and atomizers that you can use on your proprietary eGo batteries...with some exceptions, certainly.

Keep reading, good luck, and welcome back!!

If you still have your ego I would suggest using that with a 2.0 cartomizer-which is an atomizer and cartridge combined-and a drip tip. They are very easy to refill just pop of the rubber caps off each end, then pop out the rubber cap and fill with 20 or so drops of juice. Then put your drip tip on the end and as needed take the drip tip off and add a few drops into the end. You want your cartomizers to look slushy when you refill.

As far as tobacco juice its hard to find one that tastes exactly like a specific brand. I like the ry4-its tobacco with a caramel undertone.
Hoosier E Cig Supply has the lowest priced cartomizers I have seen and they work great. He also sells the ry4 juice.
Another tip=use youtube to help show you how to fill cartos or whatever else you need help with. Just type "filling carto" in the search box and it should pull several videos for you to watch. Stay with it-its worth it in the end to be able to quit smoking. Jenn

You were not able to quit smoking, so forget any ideas you might have yourself because they did not work the first time. Do EXACTLY what someone tells you to do without questioning it. Don't listen to anyone who won't tell you EXACTLY what they use.

    Here is my combo:
    - Joye 510 Carto on JOYE 510 extended battery. Both in white. You will need to carry at least two batteries.
    - All juices at 36 mg. DO NOT GET ANY STUPID IDEAS OF CUTTING YOUR NICOTINE INTAKE.

Many of us have been in your shoes, deseparate to quit smoking. It's all trial & error and each person has to find what works best for them.

I started the e-cigs first of October and I'm now on my third e-cig which is Riva 510 and I love it and have not smoked since receiving it. I did cheat with the other ones.

Yes, its overwhelming and confusing with alot of different variables, but its so worth to take the time to find out what works for you and stick with it. We are so use to picking up that analog with out having to mess around, convenience. E-cigs do require more attention and knowledge. It all seems overwhelming at first but you'll get the hang of it, if you stick with it.

Look at me, only six weeks and I'm dripping, using drip tips, cartomizers, and cartdridges. I use to get so aggravated with all the steps I had to go through to vape but as you learn more you get faster and better at it. I just learned a new trick for filling up the cartomizer, very quick, so easy and I smoke on it all day. I fill it up in the morning and its good all day.

Here's a link to a video on how to fill a carto

Good luck and yes you can do it. This forum is wonderful and if you ever have problems these people will guide you through it.

firefly- so u mean i would drip my own flavor into it and then when its done throw it out and put new one on? so it would come with a bunch i guess?

I'm a bit late to this discussion, but I wanted to be sure you understand that cartomizers can be refiled. Take it off the battery, drip in 15-20 drops, let it set for a couple minutes, wipe with tissue if needed, screw back on the battery.
I't easier to refill several for the day at home than to mess with it during the day.

To start with try to keep it simple. Pick a PV and use cartomizers filled with your own juice. That seems to be the setup of most people starting out. Since size doesn't seem to matter to you, use your eGo with some LR cartomizers. Learn how to fill them properly by watching videos on YouTube - there are several methods, just pick the one you feel most comfortable with. And if you mess up the cartomizer, don't despair: they are cheap enough to discard.

Get several different small bottle of juice to try. Once you find the juice you like, buy bigger bottles. You can try some tobacco flavors, just be aware than non of them will taste like cigarette smoke. And don't shy away from menthol or fruity flavors. I hated menthol cigs but I find vaping menthol to be quite satisfying.

If you were to start from scratch, I would recommend you start with a Riva, KGo or ePower kit. They all provide 3.7 volts vs. eGO'S 3.2-3.4 volts. Liberty Flights has a Riva starter kit that comes with 5 cartomizers and a nice case to keep everything in for about $35.00.

And remember, don't stress if you find yourself having a cigarette. It's not about how many cigarettes you smoke, but about how many you avoid.

    Good luck and happy vaping.
