PLEASE HELP! Novice vaper in serious need of help before this thing goes in the bin! Ego 510-t

Hi.

vaping 7ish days, no fags. Using (effectively) an EGO 510-tank (with Riva 510 battery). I have two type a atties, on SR, the other LR.

I'm experiencing some troubles and so far I am unble to totally understand and or solve my problems, so hoping someone on here has the answers to all my questions. I've mainly used my SR atty, vaping on it now for around 4 days using various juices, including yummy chocolate! I've used my LR one a little. Please read my questions carefully....

Issue 1 - airflow/taste/cleaing
-----------------------------
When i first started, whether activating the battery or not, I got a good flow of air through my SR atty. Now, it's not very good at all. The WIERD thing is that if I leave the two small air holes uncovered, the draw is bad, however is a cover one (and I meant the same one each time), the flow is better! If I cover the other hole, the draw is bad again... WTF! I've tried twice now to clean the atty. First time i soaked in cola for 30mins, blew it through several times, rinsed in bottled water then dried (a bit). Second clean was tonight, this time soaked in vodka for 30mins, stired around, blew through, not rinsed in water, left to dry.. still the same problem (and the taste not as good as new). Sounds like a dirty atty?? What's with this airflow anomily though and how on earth to I get this thing clean. I do not have vibraty cleaner tank thing (forget what they're called right now)! I've read threads that indicate people take these apart, but I don't see how i can reasonable get in to this tank atty as the only bit one could reasonably grab hold of perhaps with tweezers is the needle bit, which looks delicate. Therefore I cannot do dry burns as I can;t see the coil! HELP PLEASE

Issue 2 - Leaks!
++++++++++++
This seems to be an issue only when I use my LR atty. I'm finding that when using just the LR atty, I am getting serious leeks, particularly when i start to get it warm after several decent drags. This stuff tastes like .... and is sticky and it's seriously denting my passion for it. Again, what I don't understand is the same tanks (as i'm only using 4) are NOT leaking when I use them my SR atty, just the LR. Why?? How, in very simple terms can i fix this? The tanks are standard, the holes (where the juice flows out) are properly and fully pierced.

I'd be grateful for very clear answers... I know a little, but please assume I know nothing!

Many thanks in advance,

Marcus

Guess I'm going to have to get one of these tank things just to figure this crap out. However, advice #1, which won't help you with tanks:

1) Always have some good old atomizers around. You can be a carto vaper, a tank vaper, an atty user. Doesn't matter. An atomizer is the least complicated thing to use with e-cigs... and lets you diagnose other issues. In a pinch, you can always drip or use the carts on an atty.

2) Even if you are having tank issues, the battery is still good. Don't bin it. At least PIF it, even if you give up.

3) E-cigs take some messing with before you find a combo that works for you. It's tough, since if it doesn't work, you're low on nic and even more cranky! lol. What I did was to smoke and vape for a while, getting everything worked out. THEN I switched. People sometimes think "it's all or nothing" with e-cigs. Not true. Take your time and work it out!

Hope you get the tank stuff worked out. I think there are some video tutorials on youtube if you look for em. Sorry I can't help more.

Some people find tanks suck. Some people love them. But it's no reason to toss Ego. Ego has more stuff available for it than any other model. More kinds and ohms of atomizers (both 510 and 306), more kinds of cartomizers, plus almost any other popular model's stuff by using an adapter.

Before tanks came along a scant few months ago, cartomizers and dripping were the most popular ways to vape. I think they still ARE the most popular way to vape, not tanks. Get some Boge cartomizers. Standard resistance is warm and the 2.0 ohm LR ones are hotter and use battery charge faster. I get the best performance the longest with thin clear juices, no more than 20% VG. (similarly tanks like 20-30% VG juices). With stuffing-type cartos I find even 30% VG can clog a carto up faster than 20%. Alternating 2 cartos, I can get 2+ weeks of good use out of a Boge carto w/ a thin clear juice. And often 3 weeks or longer.

And for testing juices I use dripping on a standard non-tank atomizer.

Thank you both for your advice... I do still have the catridges (not cartomizers) and the standard attys that the Riva 510 came with, however I much prefer the concept and practicalities of the tank, when it works well. I like that it lasts longer and I can just take a spare tank without having to top anything up; and I can always see what's left... So, if anyone is able to help with my tank issues i'd be most grateful - others points are however duly noted.

I loved the tanks too but found them much to labor intensive and difficult and went on to cartomizers. But I hope someone can help you. Many people do use them and love them.

Don't give up!

I wont give up on vaping, and I won't through this in the bin... I REALLY want to get along with the tank system. I note you use cartomizers instead of atty/catridges combination. What are the benefits of your choice over using atty and cart please, i'm interested to hear.

They're extremely easy, just fill and go. They don't leak and they hold much more juice. Now I use the dual coil cartomizer and that holds a lot of juice. Don't quote me but I believe it holds 1.7 ml of juice. The cartomizers hold about 1 ml. They last a couple weeks and I throw them away. It's probably cheaper to use the cart/atty or tanks but I could never get the tank to work properly long term and I grew extremely frustrated. I found the cart/atty messy and too much filling.

I havent had much luck with the eGo tanks personally...I had the same issues with airflow and leaking. I also use cartomizers as others have stated (2ohm boge) mostly for on the go.. they dont have any leaking issues that I've experienced anyhow. I like to drip at home which makes it pretty easy to switch between flavors, and saves some life on my carto's by not using them constantly. Just my 2 cents... Hope you get the tank working properly and good luck!

Boge, yes, they're Ego 510 tanks.

Sweeishfish: Thanks once more. I have no knowledge of carto's, other than I know they are carts and attys combined. Can I use them on my Riva/Ego 510? Why do they need throwing away after 2 weeks ish? Can they not be cleaned over and over like these ego atty's supposedly can be? Any links to the items you refer to would be much appreciated. Oh, and I've just viewed that video you linked to, it's very good and clear, so thank you.

Or you can try an giantomizer or a bigger tank. As a matter a fact, the best flavour vaping sistem is the 510 LR. Is like nothing else and it last longer than any other atomizer. The only issue is that if you are driving you have to fullfill the atomizer quite often. Otherwise the taste of the flavour is the real one without the burning smell that you get from a tank or the Pcc, of the cliromizer sistem.

Im still kinda new too but here is what I have learned so far.
1. It does sound like it is dirty. I have always read that when you are cleaning them with water to use just tap water not bottled. I dont know why but thats what I have read all over the place. If you want to do a dry burn all you need to do to see the coil is get some small needle nose pliers and there are two holes on the sides of the spike plates, just put your pliers in the holes and pull it out. It may take some force but you will get it. i do it all the time (about once every 2 weeks)

2. I have no explination as to why you would have a leaking problem with LR and not SR.

I would recommend getting the boge 2.0 for your ego. I just got a pack today and they are as great as everyone says they are. I did try the dual coil also and they drained the ego batteries very quickly and defeat the purpose of having an ego, also the boges in my opinion are providing a much better vape for me. I have used a bunch of different cartomizers and these are by far the best I have found. I only wish I would have tried these first and saved myself some serious money because I have spent a small fortune trying all the different cartomizers.

Hi All and thanks for your replies....

Wickedmama: - Roger that! Sweedish mama posted a video link which I have now watched and accordingly I have toay purched some small forceps from a local tackle shop, so will be trying that once I have another atty to use whilst the possibly dirty draw one (the SR) is out of service!

Canchaser: - Thank you also... I am planning on trying these soon as it seems to be an alternative to tanks that I should most definately try, but still wanna get a bit more proficient in managing these tanks and I've just got my girlfriend and her mum to order them, so they're gonna need a guru! Will def try the Boge2.0 as a first carto tho.

Proggieus: - How would the requirement for the wick adjustment cause the leak exactly? I understand that moving the wick can effect the wicking process, but leakages? Perhaps you may also be able to tell me what effects the movement of the wick (both up and down) have on the atty? that would be marvellous...

Oh... and whilst I'm on the subject of marvellous, I must give a big round of applause for ENJuice (one of my 2 chosen UK suppliers) - They supplied me with this original LR atty (which I've been having all the trouble with) and without hesitation are sending me a replacement for it free of charge. I'm very pleased with the CS so how now placed another order with them for more supplies. The best bit of the customer experience is that Mark (at EN Juice) has also offered his advice and opinion - Good work Mark!

There was one further suggestion made re my leaky LR atty; that being that IF the tanks that leaked were pierced by the SR atty, this may cause them to leak on the LR atty (differnt whole alignment)? Personally I'm not convinced as due to the very nature of this tanks and likihood of them being interchanged I'd expect the puncures and whole location to be rather uniform throughout. What are your thoughts on this guys?

your welcome Im happy I could help a bit. As for the differnt size of the spikes for the LR and the SR I believe that is false. I have 2 LR and 2 SR attys and I rotate all 10 of my tanks through all of them and never have a leaking problem.
I was thinking this morning about why you would have the leak and I came up with this. I have noticed that sometimes I feel I need to draw a little harder on the SR as opposed to the LR atty so maybe you are drawing a little to hard on the LR one and causing it to flood hense the leak....Just a though.
