Hi all, been reading everything. I am a chain smoke for 40 years. I bought 1 510, not knowing anything about them. That was several weeks ago. As of today I have 6 complete 510's, and am still going crazy. I amtrying to keep up with charging batteries, constanly filling carts, taking up most of my day, way more than regular smoking. I went from last thursday until today without a real cig. Went with mother today to doc with all 6 510's charged and filled, and also the holder. I went thru them within 3 hours, and was stuck without anything for another 5. I finally broke down and has several real cigs. Am I wasting my time. You must really want to quit or atleast slow down for the e-cig to work. I am going nuts trying to keep up with this habit LOL!!!!!!. Tried candy and all. Any suggestions or tricks or is there a better e-cig that may suit my needs? Already spent a 3 hundred in a couple weeks......Wow,hope someone else has this problem.
Thanks, Mike

Sounds like this Rich Uncle needs one of those giant and expensive battery mods! There's a thread in General about which big battery mods people like best. I dont have one, but they're just giant batteries basically that screw onto your atomizer and supposedly power your device for the entire day, some even say they last for 2 or 3 days. Just one of those and a bottle of E juice for refilling and I bet you'd be good to go.

I always like to interject and throw my $0.02 in. I too started with the 510. I needed 5 batts on me at all times with a PCC to charge them for a day out. IT IS A HUGE PAIN BUT WELL WORTH THE EFFORT! When you get committed to quitting, go for a bigger battery mod. There are many decent set ups out there if you are willing to carry something that looks like a sex toy with you all day.
I do promise that the experience is much more enjoyable and flavorful. You’ll find that lower nicotine levels will kill your cravings and you need to carry 2 batteries with you during a normal day with most. Check out the general page on big batteries and higher voltage units. Most of us can give great recommendations and some of us actually own several units and can give you the pros and cons of each.
Good luck and stick with it!

Hello Mike,

You don't mention if you have a PCC (personal charging case) or a passthrough for your 510. If you have a PCC, is it not charging your spare battery? The passthrough will save your batteries when you're close to a computer and dripping is much easier than filling the carts on the 510 (as long as you're not driving).:)

Look at the chuck, www.thagbuilt.com. It is just a battery casing but it holds batteries that will last much longer than what you're using. One of these would solve your battery problem.

If you are vaping that heavily, I think you will have to go with a big battery and/or a higher nic level to satify your craving.

Good luck and I hope you find the PV that will keep you off of analogs.

You are hardcore like many of us. You also found many of the flaws of typical e-cigs in a relatively short period of time. While we know atomzers do not last very long, batteries are the biggrest pain in the ..... Since you are oviously vaping pretty heavily, I understand your frustration with having a fresh battery.

If you are happy with the vapor production and throat hit you are receiving from your 510, then I recommend, as other have already, that you look at one of the custom battery packs availalbe. Many of them use very long-life batteries that may provide 1/2 to 1 full day of vaping. The batteries and chargers are pretty cheap, too.

If you want more throat hit and vapor production, you might be interested in a battery device that provides 5+ volts of power. Many of these devices run at multiple voltage providing you with some degree of versatility. I personally quit a 30+ year analog habit and now primarily use a 6 volt device with a penstyle (801, BE112) atomizer. Rather than bandy about product recommendations, feel free to PM me if you want more insight from me.

I think you'd do well to click on breakfastchef's name and send him a private message (PM), then look every now and then at your own name at the top righthand side of the page where it says Welcome, and see if he's written you back. I think he'll do a great job of leading you right to the device you need. You're gonna be very happy! Good luck!

Hi Richuncle -

Sorry to hear about your troubles but don't give up. This might be the case where you can't go with the common e-cig recommendation for newbies.

Plus, don't beat yourself up about still smoking analogs while vapping. I too, am a 2 pack a day Marlboro Red 100 smoker for 20 years. Started vapping 7 days ago. Today, I lit up 4 analogs and was disgusted with my self. Then I realized, to go from 2 packs a day to 4 analogs in 7 days is a miracle.

Take your time, listen to the more experienced members here and then make a choice. Give yourself time to undo a 40 year habit.

And yes, most of us do carry our juice with us.

AFter you find a model/mod that works for you, you can sell your 510's to recoup some $$$$.

Good luck!

??? Holy cow you guys must be hard core! I was a pack and a half a day smoker up till getting my 510. I'm only a week into my 510 but I'm not getting how your having this problem. I'm vaping like a mad man all day. I keep one bat in my PCC while the other is in operation. Even vaping hard and constant in the evening I can't kill one bat before the other is charged. During the day I keep my PCC plugged into my car outlet and haven't had that go dead once. Was smoking Marlboro lights and am now vaping 24mg liquid. At this very moment I've been vaping literally constant for the past two hours...my bats not dead and the other's got the green light! Wondering...did you guys charge for the full 8 hours when you first got your batteries?? I know that's really not suppose to be necessary with these but it is what the manufacturer suggests and maybe you decreased your bat life. Haven't killed an atty yet either but I know that's probably just luck.

You might want to try stronger liquid to cut down on how often you use the 510. A lot of people use 36 or even 48mg if they have been extremely heavy smokers. DVap has nicotine information in the "Health" section of the forum.

Good Luck, and don't give up.

under no circumstances would I recommend anyone vape 36 or 48 straight- Especially, a novice vaper who is not acclimated to liquid nicotine - 36 and 48 are designed for cutting only

Hey, richuncle. Welcome, welcome. Sounds like maybe you ought to up your nic level. Small investment to find out as opposed to new hardware. You already have a good delivery setup. I started with 24mg liquid, chain vaped and never had satisfaction:(. Now, I vape 36mg/ml, sometimes 48 if the sun's not shining bright enough, and life is much better. Now I vape like I smoked, about every 30 minutes. 50 or 60 cents a mil. from someplace like Litecig or Myfreedomsmokes is a cheap way to figure out if that's the problem :).

Don't mean to step on toes, but 36 and 48 really won't hurt anyone and is also intended to use straight. In my mind it seems wise for someone just coming off analogs to try a higher nic. It's best to work your way down, not up :).

My 510’s lasted me that long for the 1st two weeks I owned the thing. Wait until they are a month old. Then they last about 30-45 minutes. Two months in 20-30 minutes. Three months in, mine are down to 15 minutes each. It was an absolute pain so I upgraded to bigger battery mods. Currently own 3 different models and about to grab my 4th from Thag.

I still have my original attys. They draw hard and I have retired them to the “in case of emergency” drawer, but I have had 1 die on me in 3 months of vaping.

Twisted – I agree with you, but I would suggest that anyone who is having battery problems upgrade their battery first and then if constant vaping doesn’t help at 24mg, increase to 36mg.

I modded my carts to use the ADP method and I have to refill my carts about every hour - hour and a half. I vape constantly. I also am going to get a battery mod. After hearing everyones arguements over the different batteries, I am leaning toward the chuck simply because I like the fact that I can get custom art on it. Read, Read, Read... thats my best advice and when you think you have enough info then make your decision...

I'm a newbie. Only had my device for a few days. I bought a Protege from Pure Smoker to bypass a lot of grief, and to save $ in the long run. Batteries last a very long time; can't tell you how long cause I'm only 2 days in, but I've only switched the battery once. The Protege is what they call a 'mod' (modified?). I take the mouthpiece off, slowly let 2 drops absorb into the 'bridge' (?). I think they call this 'dripping'. You don't used a filler, aka 'cartridge'. These 2 drops last me about an hour. I am a very light smoker, and . . . . just figuring things out myself. Wish I had more time to explain. Good luck to you!

Getting a battery mod unit makes a huge difference. Stock batteries are a PIA. There are many models (check out warranty and customer service issues!!!) that will fit your needs. Just order it in a 510. If you decide to go for a larger atomizer later (an 801/302/BE112) you can buy an adapter to fit your 510 battery mod unit.

I suggest looking at those that will accomodate a 3.7v 18650 size battery (which can last several days on one charge). This way, if you decide to go with 6v vaping, you can. I love my Chuck (runs for 2-3 days and will take two 3v batteries for 6v vaping) and Little Chuck (which runs for one day, using a smaller battery, but only at 3.7v - no 6v option). The warranty on these is a year (and being able to have one of a kind custom design is awesome!).
