Make sure to pre-wet the coil with juice as you assemble everything. After filling the tank for the first time, let the tank sit for several minutes before vaping. If you try to use it before everything is thoroughly wetted, you stand a good chance of getting that burnt hit.
what do u mean pre wet the coil do u mean drip some juice on the gaps of the coil

take a new coil, drop some liquid into the opening on the sides of the coil to wet it..and than screw it on once you have screwed it on and put in the liquid let it sit for about 5 minutes before taking a hit at around 15-20 watts..you said the coil turned orange..this may sound like a stupid question but is this a pre-made screw on coil or are you using a rba deck?

I'm assuming that you are using a factory pre-made coil. If you see it glow orange, you are definitely firing a dry coil. The coil MUST be wet or it will burn.

With the istick TC40W, in temperature mode, it will always fire at 40 watts. It will give 40 watts to the coil until the temperature preset is reached.

You state that your coil resistance shows 1.6 ohms. At 1.6 ohms, the istick cannot be put into temperature mode. With this resistance, you must use wattage mode. Set your wattage at 10 watts, try vaping, and raise your wattage as you need to get the proper hit.

If your coil resistance shows 0.16 ohms, then you have a temperature controllable coil. With this coil, put the mod into temperature mode. Set your temperature to 350 degrees and try vaping. Raise your temperature level as desired to get the ideal vape. Remember, in temperature mode it will fire at 40 watts until the temperature is reached; then the mod will cut the watts down to keep the coil from getting any hotter.

When you get your ideal vape, lock the resistance (press & hold the fire and up buttons together for a couple seconds). Also lock the temperature (press & hold the up and down buttons together for a couple seconds).

Good video on your mod explaining proper usage....
