I have been searching around online for days now and have yet to find a good explanation of the kind of information I'm looking for. This is in regards to my resistance on a tank or a build I make and variable wattage.

I just purchased a Sigelei 150 watt, and I really like vaping it. I bought a .2 sub ohm tank: the Matrix by High Voltage. I'm going nuts trying to find out what wattage I want to vape at. I understand to find what feels right and all that, but I'm also wanting to know more about what's going on and I just want to understand how I see online some people are pushing 80 watts on .2 sub ohm builds, while I have been doing 40 just fine.

Now, I understand variable wattage is different than voltage. You select it and it runs a reverse formula to tell your mod how many volts to push or something like that. If I'm incorrect, please inform me. I'm mostly curious though about how to figure out what I should push on different ohms. I can't figure it out for variable wattage, and from all the reading I've been doing, it almost seems like any kind of wattage will be okay, but I just don't see how that could be correct. I hope this isn't getting too confusing or crazy, but I basically want to know how to figure out what I can vape my .2 ohm tank at, and if I build a 1.7 Kayfun Lite I would want to know how to adjust accordingly. Please someone help me, because I'm looking all over online and nothing has really helped me to figure out exactly what I'm looking for. If anyone needs more information, I would love to supply any more that I could. I'm just going nuts trying to figure this out haha.

ohms law can be used to calculate current and power when using a mech or other unregulated mod. This is the natual amount of power through a circuit with any given resistance at any given battery voltage level.

With a charged battery on an unregulated mod, a .2 ohm build is near 80 watts, factoring for voltage drop.

With a regulated mod, like yours, there is no real benefit to using a lower resistance build unless you need it to hit the max wattage advertised by the mod. As long as you are within the allowed current limit, you can just keep turning up the power until you get what you want with any resistance build.

Unregulated mods are for hobbyists and people who enjoy the intricacies of good coil building, ohms law, and battery safety. For people who don't really care and just want something easy that makes clouds without having to think about anything technical, there are mods like the Sigelei 150.

Well thank you both. Then just to check, if I turned my Sigelei up to 150 watts (I wouldn't), would it torch my wick or if I used my Kayfun, the coil I build?
It depends on the device. the coil, and the airflow. You should just turn up the power until you get a vape that you like.
Ohms law won't work to calculate power on the Sigelei 150. The power is whatever you set it to.
You are using a regulated device that has built in protection.
You can use ohms law, however, to figure out how low you need to build to get the full 150 watts. If the device has a max voltage of 7.5 volts and max current output of 40 amps, you can build anywhere from 0.167 – 0.375 ohms in order to get full 150 watt capability.

So, if it were my device, I would build my atomizers somewhere in this range and then just turn it up till I liked it. Your .2 sub-ohm tank allows the Sigelei its full wattage range.
