Please join me in prayer for the victims of Sunday's devastating tornado that hit Joplin, MO. 117 people have lost their lives, and rescue efforts are underway to find survivors.

The tornado was reported as an EF5 that caused a path of destruction which leveled a third of the city, including a local hospital.

God be with the victims, their families, the rescuers, and first responders who have witnessed the devastation. Heavenly Father, please comfort them in their hour of need, give them Your strength to overcome, and Your peace that surpasses all understanding. In Jesus Name we ask and pray. Amen.

Precious Holy Father, I come to you in the Name of Jesus with a heavy heart. I don't understand why weather destroys so much, but I do understand Your abiding love and compassion for Your creation. I also know that these heart sick people aren't going through any of this alone as You are right there in the midst of them. Lord, I ask that You help the rescuers find everyone that needs to be found, and hold those who lost loved ones and all possessions they had. I pray, Lord that these people had house insurance, to help them get back on their feet. Objects are just that....but families who survived this devastation are priceless. Lord only You know when it is our time to leave this earth, and I pray that all who lost their lives are safely in Your arms. In a way, I'm almost envious, but You have told me repeated that it wasn't my time. Comfort the bereaved, Lord, and have them know they will be seeing their loved ones again. Allow this disaster to witness to the unsaved. Thank You, Father. Lord, I also ask for volunteer workers to help these families clean up the aftermath as they will need the help in the coming days, weeks, and months. Open the door of generosity in people's hearts to donate clothes, food, water, and even temporary shelter, and stop the looters in their tracks. Thank You, Lord of all, the King of Kings, the Prince of Peace for pouring help into these communities. You are so generous, Lord, and we all thank You. For it's in the mighty Name of Jesus I ask, Amein and Amein.

The Convoy of Hope, based in Springfield, MO is accepting donations for the Joplin, MO tornado victims. You can help by texting CONVOY to 50555 and donating $10.00. Let us all pull together to help in whatever way we can.

Words cannot describe the scene of devastation in Joplin. The local news stations here in Springfield are carrying video, and photos of the damage. It is just beyond comprehension.

But, Praise God, seven survivors have been found in the rubble!! Please keep praying for all those affected by this!!

JOPLIN, MO (KTVI - FOX2now.com)—

It was the nation's deadliest tornado in nearly 60 years. And now the death toll stands at 116, but is expected to rise. The Missouri National Guard, police and other emergency workers will continue to dig through debris Tuesday, searching for any survivors of Sunday's devastating tornado in Joplin, MO.

The signature of the storm continues to be piles of debris wrapped around trees and homes and businesses completely blown off their foundation. About 400 people were injured.

There were several rescues Monday bringing hope to many in the southwest Missouri town. Seventeen people were pulled from the rubble, but officials say they still aren't sure just how many people are missing. Many family members are setting up Facebook pages and using local media to try and find family members. The American Red Cross has set up a Safe & Well site where people can list themselves as safe. Families can also check the site.

The tornado killed at least 116 people. U.S. weather officials say the twister was six miles long and a half-mile wide and left nothing but destruction in its path.

Those who survived the storm say rode out the storm in basements, bathtubs and even convenience store storage rooms. "We ran to the bathroom, I got the kids in, and I swept everything off the bed and put a mattress over us, and held it down really tight," said one resident.
"It was bringing the debris with it, we just got all in the house, got in the shower, stayed there, rode it out."

Two police officers were injured Monday when they were struck by lightning while the looked for survivors. One of those officers returned to work Tuesday, but the other officer's injuries were more severe.

Rescuers are also back on the scene of St. John's Regional Medical Center, the hospital that took a direct hit by the tornado.

Governor Jay Nixon declared a state of emergency Monday. President Barack Obama also called the governor from Ireland to extend his condolences for the families of Joplin.

The Joplin, Mo. tornado is the deadliest single U.S. tornado in 64 years, since 181 were killed in Woodward, Okla. on Apr. 9, 1947.

I am amazed at how many deadly tornadoes have happened thus far in this spring season. I mentioned it to my husband and he shook his head and said, "End times." I guess that is so. Mississippi has had so much trouble this season, not only with tornadoes, but flooding down the MS river, destroying so much in many states. AND, the hurricane season hasn't even started yet. We live 150 miles north from the coast, and when Katrina came through here, it was a category 2 hurricane, with the eye over a small town just 40 miles east. What we got was the northeast part, which is the worst area to be in. A tornado hits and gits, but Katrina plummeted us for over 12 hours. We also had to contend with Ivan, the year before. We are better prepared than we were.So much damage. But we have fared much better than Joplin, or Smithville, MS or Tuscaloosa, AL. Thank You, Jesus.

Heavenly Father,
I pray that You give comfort, and ease the pain of the grieving families who lost loved ones, the very young and old alike. Please provide them a safe haven in Your loving embrace, and remind them You are always with them, even in the darkest hour.
I pray that You bless the survivors, and ask You provide for all their needs--food, shelter, clothing, and a safe place to lay their head.
I pray that You touch the hearts of the responders, workers, and volunteers helping with the clean up, and rebuilding. Give them strength, and comfort, and Your Peace.
I pray that all beloved pets are reunited with their families. Thank You Father for the special comfort, and joy a pet can bring into our lives. Comfort those who may have lost their special friends.
I ask and pray these things according to Your Will, Heavenly Father, in Jesus' Holy Name. Amen.
