I have an eGo -c pass through 650 mAh, and the circuit board died on it, i wanted to make a small "mod" to it and make a wooden box and use a single pull single throw push button as my fire button and re-rout the the tip that connects to my cartomizer.

and i guess my question is, is this safe? im not going to remove the battery out of the metal housing and i still want to use it as a passthrough to charge on usb.

I have everything ready to go, but i haven't tried it yet in hope of responses and advice.

I'm good at soldering and building small electronics, but i'm paranoid when it comes to a potential battery blowing up in my face.

EDIT**

Also using it as a pasthrough, does the auto charge feature still work without the original button/chip with the LED lights on it?

I am not knowledgeable about eGo batteries, but FWIW here's my 2 cents on it. I think the circuit board has the battery protection on it. If this is true and you are not using the circuit board, you risk the battery blowing up if you draw too much power or have a short. IMO unless someone who knows better says different, don't do it, it's really not worth the pain!
