I am super-noob to using mods. Just finished my first tank of Peach e-liquid from Go! (where I got my first vaporizer - iGo4) and then bought 3 more flavors from Ahlusion (after reading great reviews of them on this site). Peach from Ahlusion was fine, no problems, then tried Cherry Cola (vaping now) and it has this strong chemically flavor.

I read somewhere that I am supposed to let these "steep" for some mysterious length of time but never found out --> How long? Cap on or off? Does it matter? Do this for ALL flavors? or just the fruit? specialty flavors? Does this matter becuase of the PG/VG? (Using 50/50 for the cherry cola) Does this have anything to do with unified field theory? So many questions!

Please help.

Also, please let me know a ROCK SOLID e-liquid. Not sure if I want to go Ahlusion again. Web sit is seriously LACKING in information and shipping was SLOOOOOOOOW.

Steeping is sitting the juice in a dark place with the cap on for an while. I have read two weeks up to a month but I have found that two weeks is fine. However, this is "supposed" to make the flavor more pronounced which means that your chemically flavor will either A. not change or B. get worse. You can do this for all flavors and all variations but commonly, I will try something out of the box. If I think it tastes muted, I let it steep. Realistically, you can steep or not....it is a matter of taste.

I personally buy from Vapedudes primarily for juice. You can pick your ratio of pg/vg and standard/extra flavor in addition to the strength. Try different variations. Different people will give you different answers or like me, no answer at all of a flavor of choice or ratios. I try to stick with US made only juice............not that it likely makes any difference.

Good luck

I'm here, when I'm here
From EC Blend -

Steeping allows flavors to blend and marry fully over time, so you will have a richer, deeper, more flavorful product after a few days or weeks of steeping. (This is especially true of tobacco flavors, our Dragon Series, and larger bottle sizes.) Store in a dark cool place, out of reach of children and pets. Shake daily.

I steep with the cap loose in the top cabinet in the kitchen. Most get better in about a week +. Others - nothing helps. I end up mixing with another flavor and sometimes turn out something vape-able but it's hit or miss.

Hope this helps a little. Happy Vaping!! :vapor:

That's the bad part of ordering from a vendor.....needs to be steeped or not steeped. You can find vendors that sell steeped juice so you do not have to wait.

Even after steeping they might not live up to your expectations. You could always buy sample bottles from various vendors to try. If you like that vendor buy more from them....if you don't keep looking till you find one that one that satisfies your taste buds.

Good Luck.

Ever had spagetti for dinner and then refridgerate it and then eat it a day or so later? ever notice that it tasted better after sitting in the fridge? Steeping is almost the same thing, it allows the complex flavors to intermingle with each other and develope into something better. But this is not always the case... sometimes it changes for the worse... its all a matter of what the vendor uses to flavor their juice. There are thousands of flavors in thousands of different combination... and consistancy is not easy to maintain if you prefer the naturally extracted varieties of juices...

First, a shout out to a fellow Montanan from the Zoo!

I would recommend diving into this post. It has plenty of information, both experiential and technical. There's a about as many different methods as there are people on this forums it seems. Some just let the USPS and tanks do their steeping, too. I've found it beneficial, but one thing I've figured out...you can't make something that tastes like cr*p turn into gold. It just doesn't work like that.

I am of the opinion that sampling far and wide is wise in the beginning and I learned that through my mistakes. I've found things I love, things I hate, things that don't last, things that surprise when I taste them later. Taste is subjective, so what's good for some may not be good for you. Also, I definitely recommend opening yourself up to things you wouldn't think you'd care for....you might be pleasantly surprised by what you find.

Welcome to ECF!

In my experience, some are good straight out of the mailbox or local store. If I'm not crazy about a flavor that seems to have potential, I sit it in a cabinet, caps off (especially if it's chemical or alcohol smelling), shake it up once or twice a day - daily. Check it again in a week. If it's good, vape it. Some take longer. Once I like it, I put the cap on and go.

Another thing about chemical or alcohol smelling ones..... at least, this works for me.... I give the bottle a gentle squeeze to introduce new air to it. Helps a lot. You'll find a bunch of different methods on here.

Welcome to ECF!

Thank you for the link. Very informative. BTW...are there any notable local e-liquid stores that you are aware of? Ya know, for the I NEED SOME NOW moments while I'm waiting for my "wine" to mature.

We have one B&M down here, not sure about Helena yet...haven't needed to look there and it's sort of out of my way. ;) They're called Liberty Vapor and they do ship I think...probably would be there next day. I feel our local shop is OK and considerably more expensive than online. I quickly outgrew them once I got here on ECF. The shop here has a decent selection of flavors, but I've had a lot of trouble finding ones I really liked...and some were downright terrible. (Starburst and huckleberry were vapable...practically everything else I've tried so far was not to me.) They let you sample, though, so that's cool....and of course, like you say, are there for the emergency.

You might try checking out any local head shops up there, ours stocks some liquid and supplies. (You know, those "other" kind of smoke shops? Kind of odd...I didn't visit them much until I got into e-cigs. Haha.) I've also found some in convenience stores, but not very many...only one or two here and it's probably only so-so, haven't tried. (But well steeped! Haha.) You might try calling around?

Mt. Baker Vapor out of the Seattle area can get here in 2-3 days and they ship custom liquid same day, usually. I'm puffing on some and have liked what I have so far, better than the local shop anyway...plus, they're cheaper than most everyone. There's a few threads in the eLiquid discussion and eLiquid Reviews sections with recommendations to try. The samples are a little large (15ml for $4-$5 usually), but that's a good thing if you find you like a flavor, not so good if you don't. They're on my speed dial in case of emergency. :)

Cheers! Feel free to hit me up if you need any local advice!
