I have an aspire nautilus on a eleaf istick. I dont change tanks or juice flavors. I understand vw will adjust you vv to whatever ohm you have based on personal preference. But since i always use the same juice and set up should i set my preference by vw or vv? Why and why not? Please help. Ive been googling the and cant get an exact answer.

After almost a year of vaping, I prefer wattage. The chip will calculate what voltage and amperage you need. Some higher end mods like my Sigelei don't even have voltage setting mode. Just set the wattage until you get the vape you like. No matter what coil at what resistance you put in, it will always produce the same wattage.

I don't believe it makes a difference. I'm not an iStick person, but one or the other may be a finer tuning because it adjusts more precisely. I have always used VW when the choice was available.

There are a couple of iStick threads that I bet would have more info. OR...someone will show up shortly.

Hope helps

Thank you all so much. I put all that into thought. Only question Now is why do some say they like vv better due to you can fine tune better. I read one forum stating they like vv better if they dont change out parts. Due to your not changing ohm levels. So keeping same ohm coil always you should use vv to get the exact preference. That vw is good when changing ohm coils and juice variety but isnt exactly on point when being accurate.

That's another reason to use wattage. It will always adjust to conditions. If use voltage, you have to change it when you see the coil resistance change. Kind of a pain. Leave it on the wattage you like and keep it there. You can change coils ect, it will automatically adjust, and produce the correct wattage again. Just use wattage, and it'll save you a headache.

It depends on what kind of device you are using. Something like a spinner that doesn't use incremental power setting (i.e. a digital vv device where voltage is set in +/- 0.1v increments) will literally let you dial in a more perfect vape for that particular time but as stated you will have to continually raise the voltage setting as your coil gains resistance.

Try playing with this Ohms Law Calculator to see how watts and volts are related to ohms. Depending on your coil's resistance and your vaping power setting range (i.e. your preferred min and max power setting) will determine whether or not a device like an SVD (which does both modes in +/- 0.5watts and +/- 0.1v increments) will be able to dial in a better vape using one mode vs. the other. But at this point you're really just nitpicking over hundredths of a volt.

I am the kind of vaper that adjusts up and down during the course of a day on a regulated device, so whether my device is providing straight voltage or calculating power is irrelevant to me. I'm not a "set and forget" kind of vaper.

I don't care what the numbers are, I just care about getting a good vape.

Both do, indeed, get you to the same place, letting you adjust the power consumed by the coil to suit your tastes and preferences.

As said, VW lets the mod do the work, as it will automatically adjust the voltage to changing conditions, and give you the same watts used. That may or may not be the "right" setting for every flavor! But if your coil drifts off, or you buy new ones that aren't exactly the advertised resistance (fairly common), the mod doesn't care, it just changes the volts for you, within it's design limits, of course.

In VV mode, any of those conditions come up and you manually set a new voltage, and best to work from low to high for that.

Saw you started a seperate thread as well. DavidOck gave great advice. Whether it is volts or watts start low and go up until you are happy with the vape. Different juices taste good at different levels. The start low and ratchet up is great advice. If you get even a hint of bad/burnt taste lower it some.

Whats your fav watt 1.6 coil

It really does depend on the flavor and the type of topper.

Some flavors taste best at lower power than others, some at higher power.

And if your topper has lots of air flow it can generally work well with a higher power.

So it's really on a case by case basis, and no single power setting will taste "best" - too many variables in hardware and types of flavor. And that doesn't even account for personal taste preferences...
