I've seen a few threads on mods to solve this problem, perhaps we can make a merge with some consolidated advice...

Even with a brand new cartridge, it seems I get a metallic vaporizer hit that tastes awful after a few pulls. I end up rejuicing constantly, which makes me look like a crackhead to some people.

What's the best way to make it "Good to the last drop"?

I have the same problem, so I hope one of these very kind experienced people can give us some good advice. The people at work think I'm a nicotine addict for sure. LOL

Im also having the same problem. Everything was good for the first two weeks but not so good for the last few days.

I tried many cleaning methods and no real luck. I ordered new attys hoping that will solve it because im very close to buying a pack of cigs...

Another theory I came up with is my taste buds are coming back to life and the juice is not as good as I first thought. I found out its dekang and I've read varying comments about the stuff but it was awesome at first. A friend at work tried it and says he doesn't taste anything bad/different from last week.

Im at a loss for now, was so happy at first, it was so easy to stop smoking. Im not ready to give up just yet but its getting hard...

Im using Joye ego with carts.

It's not your atomizer, I thought that at first and bought a new one myself.

The way the cartridge works is by staying in contact with the atty, and the atty pulls the juice from the padding inside the cart at a given rate.

But the padding in the cart gets worn down and sooner or later they are not making contact. If it was your atty, adding juice I dont think would help.

Have you tried the filler mod yet? You pull all the filler out of a cart, cut in 3rds with some sharp scissors, fill the empty cart with juice just up to the flat part, then stuff one of the 3rds back in and top it off till it looks slushy. Drop a drop or 2 of juice on the atty to prime. Put cart back on the atty, and take a few long drags.

Worked better than the full filler carts for me.

Hey all,

The problem with standard carts is that they get "airlocked".
There isn't enough air flow to wick the juice down to the atty bridge.
After doing damn near about a trillion cart mods and getting funny looks from my wife for playing with the stupid things for an hour a night for about two months straight, I decided to switch to cartomizers. They run a little more money, and aren't the end all be-all, but they'll wick MOST of the liquid to where it needs to go. I think the atomizers are great for flavour and TH, but are just too much maintenance. I think some of the manufacturers should get on board with what people are saying. Scottbee created a neat looking mod called the "Micro Juice Box". Though I haven't tried it, it does look promising. It seems to remedy the "air flow" issue. Until the manufacturers come out with something like this, i will stick to cartomizers.

One of my carts I put just enough polyfil to cap the end. Another time, I filled it with polyfil, but not tightly as it slid in easily, trimmed to the top of the cart. I've tried the tea bag (very messy). And I've tried the white Fluval and my cart leaked every time I laid it down - tried both filling full length and just the end. PV is a 510 of course ;). I just can't get a consistent draw on the thing

I have tried this and it was great till the taste started showing up. Im new at this so maybe I did something wrong at some point. Thats why I hoping to find the nice taste again with new carts.

I agree that cartomizers give great vapor and endless vapes and 5 for 7 or 8 bucks is pretty good especially when you can get weeks of use out of just 1. The only thing I can tell with them is a slight flavor issue. But if your only vaping smoke juice it probably wouldn't be as much an issue.

Have you noticed any leaking with this method? I have some shipping to me and hoping it will cut down on the number of times I have to refill, while not leaking as well.
I heard that it actually can leak a little more because it is more porous. But then again I heard that what I just said isn't true.:D

You're probably right, Rocky. I've mostly been vaping tobacco flavours. I have tried some DIY cola in a cartomizer, though, and it's reasonably consistent with the flavour I get from an atty. I could see how milder flavours might get muted, though. There's a new kid on the block - the E2 cartomizer (google it). I'm thinking I might bite. V4L has been using it for a couple months now with their WOW Vapor cartomizers. Hrmmm Money Money Money LOL

The condom method is almost darn near impossible to do on a 510, because the threads on it are male. I usually just drip into the top, avoiding the air hole in the middle. Every 7-10 drops I give it a blow to push the juice into the filler a lil more. The Boge 510 carts that everyone is selling (the black ones) hold about 20-30 drops of liquid.

Hm, 2.5 ohms on a 3.7 device, great vapor...weird. I don't see how the vapor could be warm at all with that combo. Great T.H. , that depends on the juice doesn't it? How does this thing not leak? no filler.....Heck I'm gonna buy some just to try it. Thanks:D
