Ethics complaint alleges Kona councilman

«Council Chairman [...] Kanuha violated the “fair treatment” provisions of the county ethics code. In addition, he said, the Coalition for a tobacco-Free Hawaii violated county lobbyist registration provisions when it didn’t register with the Clerk’s Office until after the bills were passed.»

While I share DrMA's concerns, the title of this thread is inaccurate and misleading.

I don't see any political corruption here, and don't think the allegations against the County Councilman will result in any charges, discipline or anything else.

Although the Coalition reps should have filed as lobbyists with the County when lobbying for the bill, they filed it shortly afterward.
It is very likely that some vape shop owners, e-cig vendors and/or other vaping ban opponents also failed to register as lobbyists.

The only egregious actions I see by the Councilman and the Coalition were their many false fear mongering claims about e-cigs, their advocacy for the vaping ban,.
and the Coalition's failure to ethically disclose its many conflicts of interest.
