hello everyone ,I have finally ventured back into vaping after a 2 year leave. So i recently picked up a I stick and some Aspire nautilus minis with BVC heads and was having a ok vape nothing great but Decent. So i visited my vapor Shop locally and picked up a Pro tank 3 and Adjustable air flow base for it .But the PT3 is leaving me very unsatisfied.I can manage about 3-4 hits then i get muted flavor and harsher hits.I have to keep the settings low at around 6.8 watt because if i go higher i get less hits before it gets muted or harsh hitting so it stays in the 3.2-3.5 volt range. So every 3 or so vapes i have to unscrew the cap a little and watch the air bubbles float up and i can vape it again a few hits before i have to repeat

My juice's are Vermillion river,BWB,and mom pop vapor american blend so they are not overly thick i think all are around 70-30 60-40.Any idea how to fix this as sometime i will pick up my device and hit it 4-5 times before sitting it down and have not been able to with the PT3.

I think this issue may be more related to the istick than the tank. The istick isn't good at regulating and actually puts out more power than it is saying it does. The Nautilus BVC coils can handle the power so they work well with the istick. The pt3 may not be able to. Also try closing the airflow to a bit of a tighter draw and see if that helps with the wicking. In my opinion the Nautilus mini on the istick is a good combo and I don't think the pt3 will keep up.

+1 on what erikbal said!

There are a few problems with regard to the iStick's circuitry (it measures mean not RMS). It is not capable of down regulating power (it is widely inaccurate, especially at lower voltages). As long as you're aware of it and don't need a battery that can output voltages between 3v and 4.2 volts, you may like it. It does go up to 20 watts (but only using a 1.1 ohm coil).

I can run my Aerotanks and Nautilus on the iStick without getting dry hits (due to their airflow control). Though the Nautilus works better on this battery. Just start at the lowest (volts or watts) and slowly dial it up.

If you are interested in seeing more about what is really going on with the iStick see a great post by fellow ECF member Peraspera: Wattage Ranges for Specific Ohm Builds Using iStick Specs

Thanks for the reply's so quickly everyone. But yes the istick does decent with the nautilus and is enjoyable .I have actually been looking around for a new PV as this was just something picked up to get me back in the game so to speak .

I really do like the box style mods ,And actually been looking around for a nice upgrade and one that is capable of using either sub ohm tanks like the Atlantis and kanger tank and perform well with normal Resistance atomizers, carto tanks,or the likes of Nautilus mini or Pro tanks .As i do not like fiddling with batteries of the MECH mods and the overall size of them .I would much rather have something smaller size like a box and just plug it into a usb to charge .Any recommendations,So much has changed since i was away i am a little lost

Primer puffs lol. Maybe you could rebuild your Protank heads, not hard at all unless those are the dual coil kind idk.

The Atlantis looks bomb ... and there's clones out too. I wouldn't trust any boxes batteries personally be it lipo pack or soldered 18650 like an iStick.
When you get down to 0.5 ohms being able to swap a battery is a blessing as opposed to waiting on a usb charge imho.

1.8 ohm is the heads i am using in the pt3 and yes they are dual coil .

primer puffs do not help really,I can primer puff it 4-5 times no real help the only way i can prime is remove the top cap let some air bubbles come up then i can vape it another 3- 4 hits.

This is one reason i went back to smoking ,Smoking is simple and satisfying.grab one lite it up and smoke.NO fiddling ,Building or modding .

My goal is a device preferably a Box type mod that can handle sub ohm all the way through 2 ohm well .long lasting battery. That is one thing i do like for the istick is i can go 3 days without a charge .

1.8ohm shouldnt be a problem then with the juices you're using.

Are these the coils that came packaged with the atomizer, or are they replacement ones sold seperatley? If they were bought seperate, you may have gotten imitation coils, which have all manner of problems.

I understand your frustration. The thing I always exclaim in frustration when my gear is giving me static is "I could just go to the gas station and buy a pack!".

I went back to smoking while using stock PT and Vision Nova heads too. Rebuilding those is what converted me. Cotton wicks were a major improvement for wicking and I ended up drilling the positive pins and drilling more airflow on both of those. The PT's used to aggravate me to no end with gurgling though. Vaping is fiddly imho no way around it. Even with purchased heads and wicks the tanks need to be cleaned once in a while, just part of it.

On the bright side at least its not a Blu! I went STRAIGHT back to analogs trying to use that POS.

O lord i remember the blu what a horrible thing,i started with the SI Volt which worked very well then upgraded to egos, box mods, not cigs Buzz pro,and finally for out and about was my old twist .Those were good old days amazing how far we have come in such short time

I have tried both the ones that came with the PT3 and the Replacements i purchases all are similar.I get frustrated easily anymore old age is catching up to me lol

I just like to pick something up and hit and be satisfied and not have to worry about having to mod it

the nautilus works well ,my carto tanks Still perform good but every 3 days i give the carto a nice cleaning and drying .I can manage about a week per carto in those old faithfuls .

I am leaning toward getting a new device and trying sum sub ohms tanks like the atlantis as i tried one of those at the vapor shop and was impressed large wicking holes massive vapor .I just did not like the Mod he had .I have had those tube styles mods before and they work great i just keep knocking them over lol That is why i like the box type devices a little more stability

I'm leaning towards boxes too. Been very happy with my copper tube mechs and 0.5 ohm single coils but I hate knocking them over lol and the drippers often leak in my pocket if I don't vape them dry. Seems like that Atlantis might be the best of both worlds.

It has come a long way, I remember Pure Smoke's that had seperate atty's you had to buy in a foil pack lol. Now I can't wait to get my DNA-40. Unregulated industry seems to move very fast, wish the auto industry could have moved that way sometimes oh how I would love the sound of a two stroke Honda Civic lol.
