Thanks to smoking cessation, possible reaction to PG, and changing "mouth chemistry," I've spent the last couple weeks with an average of five canker sores every day. Annoying! And painful.

So to all my fellow sufferers now and in the future, here's one solution I found helpful. Some say just switch to VG, but it could just be a matter of giving your body time to adjust to the changes (minus smoke, plus pg). Make a salt water rinse like you would for a sore throat. Add some baking soda. Mix it up and rinse/garge for at least one minute as needed.

Results. It will hurt like hell and ruin your taste a little, but the canker pain will subside and you will be able to vape. I'm essentially on day one of this, last night and this morning. But I'm vaping my face off today, which I could not do yesterday because of the pain.

Let me know if you try this and how well it works. I'll also report back if this gets me over the hump and canker sore eruptions end. In the end, some of us have to switch to VG but who doesn't want to keep options open?

Hope it helps

I have had problems getting sores in my mouth. I have few teeth, wear a partial plate, hence my tongue is getting black. My tablets for cleaning the partial plate are attacking the silver in the plate. But, my bigger problem is substantial ulcers/sores in the roof of my mouth. And some now on the sides of inside cheeks. I only vape PG/VG blend 75/25, no nicotine and no flavor. I've set the PV aside to see if these sores heal, with use of antibiotics. Anybody else had this kind of problem from vaping? JMHO.

I've checked with a few people Otrpu. Many say they got ulcers after ditching tobacco. In fact if you google "smoking cessation mouth ulcers," you'll come across a study in which 2 out of 5 of those who quit got ulcers in about 2 weeks time.

But judging by your join date, sounds like something else is the cause. I don't know diddly so won't speculate.

Hope those heal quickly, by the way. I know how freakin annoying they are.

I've been using peroxide daily when I shower. Swish it around in mouth several minutes, then spit it out. Problem is, when I vape, I vape constantly. I think it's the PG in my DIY blend. When my mouth clears up I'm going to try using a greater VG mix. It's been 10 months or more since I smoked a tobacco cig. Thanks for your suggestions. JMHO

Exerpt from Oxford Journal:
. . .Our results confirm that mouth ulcers are a common result of stopping smoking, affecting two in five quitters. Patients should be reassured that the lesions are a result of stopping smoking and not a side-effect of smoking cessation medication. . .

I smoked tobacco for more than 52 years, 2.5 PAD when I quit. Maybe still "paying the price for all those ciggs".

Maybe I'm just a "slow reactor".

Hey! Just thought I'd add my two cents. I think the root cause of most mouth ulcers is damage to the cheek tissue typically caused by friction against a tooth or oral products(toothpaste) that contain SLS, both of which are worsened by dry mouth. Make sure you have good airflow when you take a hit and try a toothpaste without SLS such as sensodyne. Biotene or gum with xylitol for the sweetener can help with dry mouth. P.S. There should be a sticky with this info in it...
