SO, i am new to using electronic cigarettes and when i first had the idea to make the switch i did some research and ran across smokenjoey on youtube. I watched ALOT of his reviews and they were very informative. He reviewed the types of electronic cigarettes i was looking for and so i got the V2 kit. Well i am now interested in getting something a little more advanced. I was looking on smokenjoey's website and he had a joyetech zee cig ultimate kit giveaway, so i entered, and i won. He emailed me today and said that in order to ship he needs me to send him a copy of my drivers license. At first i was a little skeptical, i mean who isnt when putting in info online. I told him that i would send him a copy of it but i would prefer to black out my drivers license # and my signature, he said that was no problem and that he just needed to see my birthday and my address. i havent sent it to him yet, but to receive the prize i do need to get back to him within the next few hours. SO i need your help, do i or do i not send this info? Would you?
Does this seem sketchy at all?

Hi Lizzie, I think he may want to verify you are over 18. If you are still concerned you could email and ask if you can also black out the day on your date of birth and just show the month and year, or just the year. Maybe tell him you're ok with verifying your age but you also want to protect your privacy. If he has a problem with that then I'd reconsider.

I'm fairly sure he's just doing the age verification thing - though usually there are other options than the DL# - though I'm new here too.
Could be that someone that knows the vendor might come along behind me and speak up.

go ahead and photoshop all but the info he asks for out of it .. though I can't imagine why you would verbally (or email) a fake address to get a prize.

I personally wouldn't touch that deal with a 10 foot pole myself..... but the final decision is up to you.

I am personally a bit off put by his website so, color me bias here. As long as he doesn't add at the end "Oh you just pay shipping and handling" that would concern me.

Welcome to ECF :)

If this works out well, consider it a tester to see if you could be into vaping. My concern is Joe is vouching for some technology, like Green Smoke that is extremely overpriced for what it is. Just be aware of what he's pushing is all I really want to say over-all.

The membership of this forum who are "verified" have been checked out by PayPal (one route to verification) which allows them to peruse the Classifieds thread. There are two other methods which can be a little more difficult so I would guess that at least some of them went with the first choice. That choice involves giving PayPal your checking account number. I love the classified thread to which I had access for about the first 8 months of my membership here. Now I do not have access because I refuse to give PayPal my checking account number. If you are in the group of people who would cooperate with PayPal then I would say you have nothing to lose by furnishing your driver's license information. If on the other hand you would rather guard your most important personal information from an outfit like PayPal then I would give the driver's license thing a pass. Just my humble opinion.
