Hello ECF,

I am new to vaping and have been using my friends back up for a few months now, I was a heavy smoker until 2010 when I went cold turkey due to job restraints but I do still smoke cigars and black-n-milds socially. Due to my wife's positive feed back, bought her an ego twin pack for her birthday and the enjoyment I get myself from vaping I have decided to buy my own. Being that I'm very picky and that I liked the feel of my friend's primary vaporizer, an innokin itaste SVD, I settled on the fact that i wanted a Mod instead of a ego style but I don't need all the fancy stuff so I went Mechanical and settled on the Kamry KTS v2. I also purchased better batteries because the ones that come with it are known to be faulty. I plan on buying another clearomizer, shortest one I can find; also I plan on at a later point buying a dripping tank I know it sounds like I'm moving real fast but I'm really good with my hands and playing around with the rebuildables and also i like to change up the flavors alot. I'd appreciate any feedback or suggestions for anything from clearomizers to good E-juices. Thanks in advanced

As long as you have done a lot of research, especially regarding battery safety, shorts, etc, their is no reason you cant dive in. Just make absolutely sure you know what your doing, if at any time your uncertain, put it down and go seek answers. Most people who hang out at vape shops are friendly and helpful, if you see someone building something, ask if you can watch. While you might "know" the theory due to reading, putting it into practice is often a different deal.

E-juice is a tough one to answer for someone. Everybody has their own tastes and as a result opinions may vary. Vermillion river is my favorite manufacturer, I have yet to taste something of theirs that I didn't like. There are of course some of the buzz juices, like mothers milk and bobas bounty.

As for a clearomizer... The shortest one you can find? Odd request. Clearos are definitely not created equal. Some are awesome, some require tinkering to make them good, others are plain junk from the get go. I don't off hand know which would be the shortest high quality one. I recently got myself a nautilus, it has been pretty awesome right off the bat, no tinkering required. Getting replacement heads is a pain though.

If you are going to rebuild you MUST have a ohm meter. Period. Get one.

Lots of research. I like to tinker (I'm a geek) but I still don't rebuild because well... I guess I'm lazy and the tanks I have I like. The itch is growing but still not yet I'll just buy a DNA 20 or 30 and crank up the watts to get the same effect without the work :)

ill say it again because third times a charm and whatnot but do your research before jumping into rebuilding. you dont want to end up with a pipe bomb in your hands :/ and these batteries are overkill for anything but sub ohm but i would suggest mnke or snvy vtc4 batteries. they have a high amp output that way you wont have to worry about having to high of a amp draw.

@requiem a dna 20-30 alone wont allow you to get the same flavor or vapor production as say a dripper

I 2nd the Aspire Nautilus! Most clearomizers seem to need to be used at very low voltage in order to avoid tasting burnt. The Nautilus seems to have that all worked out. I only use rebuildables but I am even going to buy the nautilus. I can't resist it after using my friend's for a few hours. You can lay it down any way you want and it doesn't leak! Cant do that with my rebuildables and sometimes it's a pain!

Yeah I planned on getting a ohm meter I have a multimeter that reads ohms so that will do for now I guess. I'm a tinkerer myself I build computers in my free time so I hope its not too much harder than that or i might get bored with it

I started vaping about a month ago. I started with an eGo twist, a week later I grabbed a Zmax to use with my Kanger tanks. The next day I bought a dripper from a friend and started building my own coils. Very shortly after that I got a mechanical to use with the dripper to get closer to 1 ohm resistance. I just picked up a Russian clone Friday and built a 1 ohm coil for that. If you like computers and tinkering like I do, it will more likely become more of a hobby than a habit lol.
