I asked for the thread to be deleted as I feel in its current incarnation it could be dangerous if pushed to its capabilities.

Wnen I find the appropriate batteries or change the form factor to fit appropriate batteries I will repost.

Any suggestions for 20A batteries that would fit or changing the form factor to fit others?

i am only interested in safer chemistry than lipo.

Something like this will more than handle the current requirements of your monster mod:
Gens Ace 1300mah 2S1P 7.4V 25C LiPo Battery for 1/10 RC Crawler and 1/16, 1/18 Cars

I don't know the max voltage on your buck converter, but if it can take 12V input, you might consider a 3s pack for a 33% reduction in current at the battery side and smaller form factor. Of course, these batteries both require specialized charging equipment to balance the cells.

Well, the only thing I have found for conventional atty use that will fit the form factor (squeezing the bottle a little) and have above the rated continuous power capability is a 3S LiPo.

Amazon.com: Hyperion G3 Cx 0550 Mah 3s 11.1v 25c/45c Pack: Toys & Games

I just don't know that I can put a LiPo that close to my face during high current draw.
Yes I know that most ventings are due to over/under voltage or physical damage or overheating but nonetheless I still feel it would be safer* to use Lithium Manganese batteries for short periods with low duty cycle over the continuos C than LiPo. (* Note I did not say safe)
I have purposly shorted AW Lithium Manganese out and let them go and no venting, but have seen a non abused LiPo go nasty.

LiFePo4 has the capability (found some IFR14500's with 20A continuous so I know 18350's could be built to do it) but can't find what would fit with 2 or 3 cells.

So it looks like I will most likely modify the form factor to include 2 Lithium Manganese 18650 with well more than the power needed at below the continuous rating of the cells.

Also looking at adding a time and lowvolt cutoff.

Just couldn't find any IMR technology to fit into the Reo, so I ordered one of these to gut the electronics and turn into a 2 X 18650 with the third bay for the bottom feed juice bottle. Will probably put a OKR T6 in the VV Grand which is in line with the C rating of the 18350's
