Preferred TC Box Mod

I have been running a sigelei 150w tc box with tfv4 tank but recently bought a crown tank with the ss coils. the sig doesn't have settings for ss so I am in the market for a box mod that has tc ss settings. i am looking at:

joyetech cuboid 150w
pioneer4you ipv5
x cube II

I have a bunch of batteries so i wanted to stay with something with replaceable batteries. i wanted some opinions on quality of the builds and some personal preferences as to people who are using any of these and if they like them or not...thanks!

I recently got the Kangertech 120 & now have my Crown I had been using on top of it. It works excellent. I haven't tried the TC yet (I wasn't looking for TC, it just came with it), but I know it also supports nickel Ti & NiChr as well. It's also my first 2-battery mod, so I'm really enjoying the long battery life, too.

I like the stainless steel myself, too.

the ss flavor is the best i have tasted and since the crown has ss coils, it seems best to take advantage of that. i have my sig 150w in tc mode at 300F and 30J but it seems i always have to keep re-adjusting it. and if i go to high on the temp it tastes terrible but the vape at 300f is pretty cool and i prefer a warmer vape so i am hoping that a box mod with true ss settings will cure that since i read some people vaping ss on box mods in the 500F range.

Both the r200 and the ipv 5 are quite new, so not much experience with them. The ipv 4s however is a decent mod but didn't do ss as i recall, the ipv 5 does for sure.

For the xcube 2 you needed to pay i think $3 extra to unlock the TC SS mode. Build quality isn't super, firebutton can stick.

The Cuboid is a decent mod, with better looks i.m.o., i'm done with painted or coated mods myself.

In this pricerange the Wismec Reuleaux RX200 could be a good option, but you'd need pairs of 3 batteries.

thanks, that was actually on my list. going to head to the local vape shop and see what they carry. i have 6 batteries now, i rotate them in pairs with my sig so needing 3 batteries isn't really an issue. and i have read that the quality on the wismec is top knotch.

Cuboid has a SS316 mode ..... and I find the default setup with this SS316 mode worthless & unusable. However, it does offer programmable TCR.

With TCR, I can plug in appropriate number for SS or any other metal now & in the future. For instance, using 316L coils, I've plugged in a TCR of 88 suggested by steam-engine. Perfect TC!

Strongly suggest a mod capable of TCR parameters if you in want to do temp control.

If you go with the RX 200 you will want to (marry 3 batteries) together, by this I mean buy three and keep them together and charge them together. I have the RX 200 it is a great mod as is my cuboid and evic minis, they all have TCR control, others that I have that do S.S. very well is the IStick TC 100, and the Kooper Plus, The Crown coils are Dual S.S. Coils that may need some tweaking of the TCR the Kooper has TCR and a option to select single or dual coil.

You can use SS316 in wattage mode if there is no supported TC mode..

funny, and i am sure i am not alone, but i have really started to accumulate a nice assortment of tanks, boxes, coils, wire, tools, juices, etc. but i think what i have spent in the last year on this hobby is still way less than my pack and a half daily habit before!

Excellent choice, but as @Clark Kent mentioned it's important to use 'married sets' of batteries. If you don't, the oldest one could discharge faster than the newer ones, but the mod still sees the total voltage thus over-discharging it, which is possibly dangerous. If you don't have married sets (batteries you bought together, keep together and charge together) yet, no worries, you'll be fine using them, as long as you don't go under 20%. Maybe even 10%.

thanks for the knowledge...i have sets of 2 that i rotated with my sig so for now i am using those but tomorrow i plan on going and buying 6 new batteries so i can follow your guidelines...better safe than burnt!

Yes i recognize that. I think i spend $400 to $500 per year on vaping, a bargain compared to $3000 per year on cigs. Sometimes i hesitate to buy a tank or some parts for $20 to $30, but then i convince myself by thinking about smoking that away in a few days in the past.

As a quick follow up---i am loving the rx200..the temp control for the crown ss coils is spot on and the flavor has been incredible, probably the best I have had to date...i wish more people could at least try some of these things first..i was advised to start with a pen style and hated it..no vapor..no taste..went right back to smoking...broke down about 6 months later and bought a kangor box and sub ohm tank and quit on the spot and never went back..and now am at the rx200 w/ crown tank and every hit reminds me of why i quit smoking..i just love it..had i tried this setup right off the bat, i would have quit a long time ago..

Its all about finding what works for you. Good luck, now comes all the new stuff everyday that makes you think "I should get that." and now you have the power of a muscle car that guzzles gas in a tank, thats what happend to me, now I D.I.Y juice. That gets kinda expensive too but is so worth it in the Long run.

Some good friends (who own a vape store ) gave me a Cuboid for my Birthday and I have really enjoyed it. Has a nice, solid, feel to it and it seems to have a good build quality. It's also firmware upgradeable, which I've done once, and it was easy. I chose to keep it at 150W and just install the new "smart" setting feature.....which I haven't tried yet.

I tried SS temp control with a Cubis tank and have to say I was impressed with how well it behaved. It worked well enough with SS, that I'll be buying some SS wire to build some coils for some of my RTA's. I have not tried it with nickel or titanium. Kanthal (power mode) works well with it too.
