Just updated my 100 and liking the screen. All the same data displayed but a more efficient use of the screen's area in my opinion. And watts down!

FWIW, I've found preheat to be most useful when using coils having a high heat capacity- like many large diameter wire coils, claptons, etc. Preheat can get them up to vape temp quickly, otherwise half the time available to vape may get used just for ramp-up. Using escribe really shows this well.

In the email that I sent WisMec (a copy can be seen on page #1 of this thread), I intentionally worded it as a complaint about the New screen layout in hopes that the response would be along the lines of what Joyetech did with their update adding Preheat to the VTC mini, but, the response I received was not what I expected. I myself like the New screen layout, but believe we should have the choice to have either of the two screen layouts, "with Preheat". The bigger font helps me, as my eye sight is deteriorating faster than I would like. I'll just keep looking for WisMec to add a second Update with the Original screen layout + Preheat, which I believe that they should have done in the first place, instead of the "Either/Or" approach that they took.

I agree with you on the High Heat Capacity situation and the need for preheat, I'm thinking Clapton's here and preheat would work very nicely for those. Knowing nothing about Preheat in the beginning, I thought it was predominately for use with TC, but through experimentation I have found a place for it in Power mode usage also. My Tobacco use was Never this much fun to work with .

I've no idea how much memory these devices have for firmware versus how much the firmware actually uses, but it could be that the screen layouts take up too much space on the chip to allow more than one on the device at a time. Just something to consider, because that kind of technical info isn't something they're likely to be keen on sharing.

I totally agree there should be the option to use the new OR old screen layout.

It's kind of odd but Evolv has preheat on the DNA boards- but "officially" only in TC mode. I say officially because there's a workaround for getting it to work in Power mode but it's not something they planned. A lot of people have asked for it, but evolv has stated they won't be adding it to Power mode in any future updates- for whatever reason.

Screen layouts are probably a bear to design for the manufacturers. So many options... but I can say the Presa 100 screen- either of them- are a TON better than the terrible screen design they came out with for the VTC Mini when it first got ss 316 TC support. Thankfully they made the old screen available along w/the new updates (probably what you were hoping for when you asked them about it). I wouldn't be too surprised if they gave the option for using the previous screen in another update.

Maybe that is what "Preheat" is used for, like cobalt has said. Otherwise, not much use. I don't know, I'm still playing with it in Power mode, at this point I don't use TC at all.

Hopefully, WisMec will come out with another Update with the Old Screen layout (for those that prefer that) + the "Preheat" function.

While I'd enjoy having up/down buttons which did not require wrap around I'm skipping this "upgrade" as a TC user I find the "pre heat" function to be completely useless.
Preheat IS pretty much useless unless you use big diameter wire or designer coils.

Maybe it's the placebo effect, but my Presa 100 has never vaped better than it is now- after updating to v4.03. No preheat, using TC. The thing w/firmware updates is that I believe there are sometimes tweaks/improvements included that aren't mentioned. The watts down tweak wasn't mentioned, for that matter. So if for no other reason than the possibility they added unannounced improvements like that, I do the updates.

As of right now, I have updated Both of my Presa 100's. I had only updated 1 of them till I found out if I really liked the update, and I do so I updated the other about 3 days ago. I had set my power at 14 watts with a preheat set at 25 watts for 0.2 sec. After about 5 tank fulls I found that I had scorched the Rayon wicking, and developed a foul after taste. So, I am now running at 14 watts, with No Preheat, that's with NiChrome 80, 9/8 wraps for 1.40Ω, 3mm, Power Mode, in my Fev3 and 4. I do like the new display (after I have gotten used to it for a while). My other Presa 100 has a Lemo attached to it with NiChrome 80, 6/5 wraps for .99Ω, 3mm, Power Mode, also at 14 watts but with a KGD wick. Both toppers setup for tight MTL. Overall, I think the new update will serve me Proud.

I just got my used Presa from ECF classifieds today.
I just wanted to remove the previous owner's custom screen.
Done & found this thread with info about preheat (power mode only) and the link to the custom upgrade software. I always blow out for a moment to preheat before taking a hit. Now I don't have to.
I hoped my RX200s would also have preheat included but no such luck.
Anyone know if they have an official update that includes it for RX200s?

Never mind. I found it and it does :)

for the 200S Wismec TC Software for Upgrading Reuleaux RX200S
and for the 200 Wismec TC Software for Upgrading Reuleaux RX200

This first message is the one that I sent to WisMec:

Message:I have updated my Presa TC 100 to Firmware 4.03 and do not like it as much as the original firmware that came on my Presa when I bought it new (many months ago). How can I return back to the original firmware ? I can do that on my Presa TC 75, but not on the Presa TC 100, can you help me ?

and this is their reply:

I used my Presa a little bit while waiting for a good US supplier for IJoy 26650's.
It was OK with an 18650 but bonked pretty soon using 70W.
BroScience Vapes sells IJoy 4200mah 26650s now. ~$27/pair/shipped
They last a few hours with claptons in my Aromamizer Plus @ 80W.
I mainly use 69W-80W with dual & triple battery mods but this is a keeper now.
It's a little more pocket friendly than dual/triple battery mods and fits a 30mm tank.
