Product of the Polish manufacturer Expran Group, made in Germany. Three series of Prestige products are available: dessert, tobacco and fruit variations, all at very reasonable prices. Searching through the reviews didn't make me much smarter, as I couldn't find much about the "Orange Cake" range mentioned in the title. For sure, we can taste an orange cake according to the manufacturer .
The smell is perfectly as described, it smells like a delicious orange cake. The sponge cake in the picture is a little orange marmalade sprinkled with icing sugar, it looks very nice and indeed smells like it.
The taste test came immediately as I found it very pleasant to look at and smell . The base will be orange, which got a dose of sweetness as well as a slight cakey "thought". The orange is juicy and served well ripe, intensely dominating the aroma. The sponge cake is a little overshadowed, not stirring up a lot of dust in the finished soup. I feel a bit cheated as the aroma has everything it needs, but the flavour doesn't deliver what I expected. The sweetness and orange flavour completely overwhelms the cake, which would actually be the point for me and from there on it's just a fruity soup. So the end result is a juicy, well-ripened, sweet orange that totally holds its own as a fruity soup, but it doesn't make up for the promised cakey dessert flavour.
