I started out with Halo Cigs, because their kit is good, their batteries are good, their juices gain great reviews, and I have really come to love them. Now I'm waiting on a Joye eGo Twist (2 actually) and a cartomizer tank set up, etc... Here is a beginners guide I've posted in a couple of places on this forum now, and my relatives really liked.
This is an Ultimate Guide to E-Cigs and Vaping: Based on personal experience of quitting for over a month, and researching as a Hobby, rather than an Addiction! Enjoy!
Advantages of electronic cigarettes (Things you will really feel)
1. What are e-cigs to me…? They are the BEST of everything and none of the CONS of smoking…
2. It’s as if someone gave you a pill and said you can now eat all you want, and not gain a pound after taking this magic pill…. These e-cigs are that magic Pill.
3. Money Savings instantly…
a. A 5 pack of cartridges should last about 3-5 days and is $8.99
b. A pack of cigarettes will last 1 day and is $7.50
c. Monthly savings should be around $135.00 or yearly around $1621.00
d. No Trips to the Gas Station and no carrying lighters, etc.
4. You can do it just about ANYWHERE
5. You STILL get your Nicotine
6. You don’t smell
7. You breathe better – and can avoid COPD and Sleep Apnea (Many smokers die in their sleep from sleep Apnea)
8. Some COPD can be aggrevated by PG juice, but that’s why 100% VG Juice is available also – See below
9. Your chances of long term success are quadrupled – Success stories are everywhere with this approach, whereas the patches, etc. – Just don’t work (Less than 7% success)
10. You will get sick MUCH less – Less tonsils swollen, colds picked up, etc… The fact that you will get sick less is based on 2 main items:
a. No more drying toxic smoke going in and out of your lungs, mouth, teeth, gums, etc.
b. No more cold winter air being sucked in, not to mention sitting out in the cold trying to get your fix
c. The Propylene Glycol in e-cigs actually helps reduce germs – They actually pump it into retirement homes ventilation systems to reduce sickness and germs – There have been many stories of people who work in child care who get sick much less after moving to e-cigs and they swear it’s the PG in the e-cigs that reduce their sickness.
Keys to success and Picking the RIGHT Nicotine Level
1. Don’t go back and forth between
2. A regular cigarette drag is hard and fast (Draw Pressure = 10 / Draw time 2 seconds)
3. Your E Cig drag MUST MUST but slow and light (Draw Pressure = 3 / Draw time 6 seconds)
4. The “Nice and Easy” Draw technique is the most difficult part to learn, but it pays off with big plumes of “Vapor” and a nice “Throat Hit” – This is difficult for some to master, but it becomes very natural with time and there are videos and tutorials on YouTube on this subject.
5. Picking the right Nicotine Strength – Here are the Levels
a. 0mg – No Nicotine – Very little if any Throat Hit, so it doesn’t feel much like a real cig
b. 6mg – Very Low – Equivalent to a very very light cigarette
c. 12mg – Light – This is comparable to a “Light” or “Ultra-Light” Cigarette. (This is currently what I use, but I started with 18 mg strength.)
d. 18mg – Medium/High – This is actually the most comparable to a “Light” cigarette but with extended longer “vaping” can be a bit much for some – I still suggest this as the best place to start for new vapers, because they can take more shallow drags until their lung capacity comes back from smoking, and they still get a nice throat hit, thus simulating a real cigarette.
e. 24mg – This is for the extreme smoker, who wants a ton of nicotine – not recommended for most smokers I know.
f. I started with 18 and it was perfect – Until I found myself “vaping” much more than I ever “smoked” and now I have moved down to the 12 mg and it is just right for me – Eventually as I get higher voltage units, I plan on going down to the 6mg so I can vape for extended periods with the safe effect as a normal cigarette.
g. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you’re UNSURE of what level to start – My suggestion is to START with 18mg strength, because it will give the best nicotine buzz and throat hit compared to 12 in comparison to analog cigarettes. The reason I say this, is because if it’s TOO MUCH, you always have options to take smaller drags, and vape less than normal, to keep its effects on you close to 12mg strength. If you buy 12 mg strength and the throat hit isn’t strong enough for you to enjoy comparable to an analog cigarette, and you don’t have enough nicotine, then there’s no way to go up to 18 at that point, and all your cartridges or juice are wasted at that point, because you won’t enjoy them and stick with it. So start with 18, and monitor what you feel, and then the next order you can go down to 12 because you will start vaping more, and your body will actually “Feel” the Nicotine more clearly as time goes on that your away from analogs.
6. Take a “Prime Puff” on Automatic Batteries, to get the juice starting to warm up. This is the practice of taking a 1 second puff and immediately blowing it out the side of your mouth, and then taking your normal drag or draw.
a. This is common amongst those who have gone from a Red Cigarette to a Light Cigarette to get the smoke rolling hotter when they take their normal drag.
b. A “Manual” battery doesn’t need this, as it has a button to hold before your take a drag to heat things up and make it all work well for your first drag. Although not everyone likes a button, because it’s less like a real cigarette.
7. Remember – The Kit comes with 2 batteries and that should be enough for most people, but you can order an extra Battery for $19 and also an extra charger if you like for less than $5 from
Halo Electronic Cigarette.
8. You can also buy a nice carrying case online at either
Nhaler - Smoking Alternatives or
Welcome litecigusa.com - BlueHost.com or
Electronic Cigarettes | E Cigarette | V2 Cigs amongst many others, which are nice for daily use while you’re mobile.
9. Also remember you can buy the PCC that will do the same thing as holding, but will charge at the same time.
10. Order Cartridges or e-Juice AHEAD of when you need it… Remember you CAN NOT go back and forth from Analog Cigarettes and Digital or Electronic Cigarettes, because it hurts your ability to get to know the points you enjoy about e-cig’s when you start from square one again on your breathing, smelling, tasting, and everything else that closes up once you light up an analog. Buy your Supplies BEFORE you need them, and store in a cabinet, etc. The Cartridges and Juice will actually get better, the longer they sit – Due to “Steeping”
11. Steeping is the process the fluids take on, while sitting for some time. Do not freeze or refrigerate them – Simply buy what you need ahead of time, and store in a cabinet somewhere, and you can even take the lid off or open up the cartridges, and let them sit for a bit like that – The flavors will really come through nicely then.
Things you will notice / Things you should know
1. These don’t burn out, so you should remember to “vape” about 15 minutes each session and then move on to something else. (This sounds difficult at first, but it is very natural)
2. You may get a slight headache the first night, as you get use to the more pure nicotine delivery from an e cig, compared to the burnt cigarette delivery (also the chemicals from cigarettes will leave your system pretty quickly)
3. The ingredients in “E Juice” or “E Liquid” or “Smoke Juice” as they call it is all INDIVIDUALLY FDA Approved, yet combined and sold in the cartridges has not yet reached FDA approval (Which is a good thing in my opinion because of the added tax, etc.) but this is because it is not a tobacco product.
4. Halo Cigs manufactures their E Juice in the USA which is a big plus, because of quality control – It contains Propylene Glycol, Vegetable Glycerin, Nicotine, and food flavorings. The Propylene Glycol is used in Afrin, Snow Cones, Fog machines for rock concerts, and many other consumable products. It was said that some very early Chinese made liquids contained carcinogens, but that is not true of the USA made liquids. Also the FDA and “Big Tobacco” tried to create some early scares by saying that Propylene Glycol was used in Anti-Freeze, which is true, but it is also considered “Safe for human Consumption” by the FDA… It is completely safe, and there are no worries – Just remember big tobacco and the government stand to lose considerable revenue from lessening of tobacco smokers, so there will be some of this type of propaganda.
5. You will notice you’re sense of smell and taste come back in about 2-5 days.
6. You will notice your breathing improve considerably in about 5-10 days.
7. You will notice you sleep MUCH better and with more fulfilling dreams, because you’re breathing better and your brain is getting more oxygen.
8. You will notice better energy all around, as your body gets the cigarette toxins out of your body.
9. SOME people can have an allergic reaction to PG or Propylene Glycol which includes a rash, etc. – For those there are 100% VG juices that work well from Virgin Vapors.
Components of “Throat Hit” and “Vapor”
1. “Throat Hit” is that sensation in the back of your throat when you take a nice drag from a cigarette – This can be duplicated almost exactly by an e-cig with the right components.
2. Throat Hit comes from 3 main components
a. Nicotine Level
i. A 6mg Nicotine Level
b. PG (Propylene Glycol) vs. VG (Vegetable Glycerin) mixture ratio in the Juice
i. PG provides very little vapor – But it delivers the BEST Throat Hit
ii. VG provides very little Throat Hit – But it delivers the BEST Vapor
iii. Halo Cigs uses an 85%PG / 25%VG Blend which seems to be just about right
c. Voltage of your battery
d. LR or (Low Resistance) Cartridges
e. Flavoring (Menthols and Cinnamons are notorious for nice throat hits)
3. Vapor comes from 2 main components
a. Vegetable Glycerin is the main driver of Vapor – If you love big plumes of vapor an e-Juice from (Virgin Vapors e juice manufacturer) would work well, because they only use Vegetable Glycerin as their main organic ingredient – Although you may get less Throat Hit from that Juice.
b. Voltage of your e-cig – Most e-cigs like Halo Cigs G6 kit run at 3.7Volts, yet you can buy units that go up to 4.8Volts or even higher – Naturally, the hotter the juice gets, the more vapor and everything else you get. (These kits are a bit more advanced and the best 2nd step in making vaping a hobby, rather than a necessity.)
I call this section: “Favorite Places”
1. I’ve found some other great advantages to e-cigs…
2. My favorite places to smoke cigarettes – Included hiding outside in the cold, or on a road side park or rest area…. It always felt like hiding, because people look at you like you’re doing drugs now days when they see you smoke.
3. My favorite places to vape are MUCH more vast… They include: EVERYWHERE… There is no nasty smell on you, or coming from the vapor, so you can virtually do it anywhere. The bathroom, at the computer, watching TV, DRIVING (I really missed that from years ago) While working on projects, while reading the paper, etc. etc… Even in airports you can “stealth vape”.
4. Stealth Vaping is very simple – You just go into the restroom and draw on your e-cig and hold it in for about 10 seconds, and when you blow out – Nothing. The vaporized water is basically absorbed by your body, and the bi-product equals NOTHING – Very nice.
5. You can use these in public, because they have the BLUE light and the body is BLACK or RED or whatever…. People know they are not cigarettes and thus you are not labeled a “Dirt Bag” or “Lower class citizen” for smoking a nasty and deadly cigarette.
Tips on usage
1. READ THE MANUAL – There are all kinds of tips in the manual you should know…
2. Normally the batteries come UNCHARGED…. I bought your Kit and CHARGED them for you, so the break in period is done – You should be able to hook up a cartridge and just go!
3. Go to the SUPPORT tab on Halo Cigs to read about Electronic Cigarettes and e Juice…
4. These don’t burn out, so you should remember to “vape” about 15 minutes each session and then move on to something else. (This sounds difficult at first, but it is very natural)
5. If you’re out in the cold – Take longer slower drags or draws, because the e-cig is trying to turn the cold air into hot air, so it reduces its ability to work well – although the reduced effects are minimal (just something to keep in mind.)
6. Charge your batteries anytime they aren’t in use – They are small lithium ion batteries, so they don’t have a memory like older batteries use to have – So you won’t damage them with this approach.
7. Also keep them charged, because they start at 3.7-4.1 Volts, but at about 50% capacity after using for a couple of hours (heavy vaping) they start to drop to 3 Volts and their output reduces.
8. Buy a PCC or a Personal Charging Case for $29 from Halo Cigs if you plan on travelling, or being away from a charging outlet for an extended time, so you can keep them charged up.
My favorite e-cig Manufacturers
1. Halo Cigs G6 Kit – (
Halo Electronic Cigarette) This is an American company based in New Jersey and their customer support is good, and their products are excellent. They hold charges longer, work more reliably and have the coolest rubberized coating that makes them feel very expensive.
a. They started out as an E-Juice manufacturer, and were SO popular, that they moved into the manufacturing device business… This is the best transition, rather than the other way around – because E-Juice is the main component.
2. JoyeTech or Joye is a close 2nd as they have VERY high class equipment, but it’s a bit more complicated and is more suited for the hobbyist. Their 510 series is like an e-cig, but is a 3 piece instead of a 2 piece, and uses a different threading system than the Halo G6 Kit. I would recommend buying from
Welcome litecigusa.com - BlueHost.com to make sure you don’t get a counterfeit, as many in the industry are trying to make copies of these and they are not as good as the real thing. You can buy 2 batteries, a charger, a carrying case, 2 tanks, and cone for under $80 (very reasonable, as one of these batteries should last the WHOLE day.)
a. I just ordered a Joye eGo Twist Kit because it goes up to 4.8 Volts, has a 650 maH battery (Twice the size of the Halo G6 Battery) and offers the ability to add “Tanks” and other devices to see the fluid in the atomizer area of the e-cig, rather than the cartridges. (Below is a Joye eGo Battery with a tank covered by a cone – Very nice.)
Normal JoyE eGo Battery
Pen Style Cap from Gotvapes.com Below is a really cool attachment that can go on these to turn them into just a thick Pen look alike for stealthy carrying. You can buy the Pen Style cap for the eGo system at
GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more.
This is a JoyE eGo Battery with a Pen Style Cap that turns it into basically a large Cigar-sized pen.
There are 3 Main Methods of keeping E-Juice supplied for your e-cig
1. ALWAYS remember to order ahead of when you need it – As you NEVER want to switch back to Analog or Regular Cigarettes to “Get you bye”…
a. Also remember that it typically takes 5 days or so to get your e-Juice or Cartridges (or Cartomizers as some call them) – You can’t go down to the local gas station and pick up a bottle of e-juice or cartridges – So again… Plan ahead.
2. MAIN METHOD #1: Buy Pre-Filled Cartridges made for your e-cigarette.
a. This is the easiest method there is, because you buy them and just stick them on, and go. You know they are empty when you take a drag or draw and it has a burnt paper taste to it – Then you switch to the next fresh one.
b. The cost per cartridge is about $2 and should provide the same vaping as a comparable pack of cigarettes – although they are a bit less than that for me, as I do “Prime” drags and lots of nose drags, etc. – Although most people would see the life of a pack of cigarettes out of them.
c. They come in packs of 5 for $8.99, so you’re getting about 5 packs of cigarettes for that.
3. MAIN METHOD #2: Re-Use your Cartridges or buy LR or (Low Resistance Cartridges) for more vapor/throat hit, and Re-Fill or Re-Use them by dripping your e-Liquid inside them.
a. This drops your per-cartridge cost down to about $1 – So that’s about a pack of cigarettes for $1!!!
b. This takes a bit more patience, as you need to take your empty cartridges and drip juice in them at the begging of the week, and takes just a bit of skill – although I find this a fun part of the hobby – although some may find it to feel like work or inconvenience.
c. LR Cartridges are available also on
Halo Electronic Cigarette by going to the same place you buy the normal cartridges pre-filled, but they come in blanks and you must fill them yourself.
d. A cartridge can be re-used or re-filled about 30 times and then they are pretty much toast (although there are people who report cleaning them out with boiling water or vodka, and using them for about double that length.)
4. MAIN METHOD #3: You can buy BLANK Cartridges or a “TANK” and simply fill the tank and you can watch the liquid level come down. The tank is much more convenient, and even less expensive, as you can re-use it many more times than a Cartomizers or cartridge (same thing)
a. This method will be further explained below.
How to Order more Cartridges from Method #1 (Best Beginner Method)
5. Go to
Halo Electronic Cigarette
6. Hover your mouse pointer over “G6 E-Cig”
7. Then go down to “G6 Cartomizers”
8. Pick your flavor and click on it.
9. Pick your nicotine Strength (Remember 18mg is a nice place to start, yet you may migrate to 12mg over time if you feel too much of a nicotine buzz after using them awhile)
10. Click “Add to Cart”
11. ALWAYS remember to check for a Coupon Code… Halo is very good about this, and currently for 2013 they are running a special 25% off of hardware with the Coupon Code “Happy2013” that is over on the right side of the screen. - Then simply Check out and pay with a credit card.
Above: This is an example of flavors Above: This shows picking Nicotine strength and the Coupon Code
PCC and Pass through… What did you say
1. A PCC or Portable Charging Case is basically a case that will hold your e-cigs and it has a built in battery that will re-charge them up to 4 times while you’re on the go or mobile and going to be vaping a lot – Out at the farm, in an airport, etc.
2. The passThru is like an e-cig with no battery – It just plugs into your computer, or USB power source, like the wall charger and your off an vaping without worries of running out of battery power – Great for sitting at the computer at night vaping away, or in a car, etc.
3. These are both available at
Halo Electronic Cigarette.
Charging is the key to high voltage and more pleasure
1. A tip would be always leaving both batteries on the charger at night so they are fresh in the morning.
2. Put them on the charger if you’re not using them, until you start to feel confident they will last you the whole day – I have been using 2 batteries for the entirety of a day for over a month, with no issues – If they are an issue, you can always buy 1 additional battery, and put it on the charger for when you come home at night.
3. They should charge in under 2.5 hours, which is good, because a good test of a kit is that the batteries should charger faster than it takes you to discharge them with constant use, so you’re never without.
4. Here is a picture of 2 batteries on the charger.
a. Charging - You can see the one with the blue led light on the tip of the battery, also has a Red light on the charger – This means it is charging.
b. Fully Charged – You can see the one with the led light on the battery is OFF – and the light on the charger is lit blue – This means it is charged.
c. If you take a fully charged battery off of the charger and use it for 20 minutes, and then put it back on, and the led light on the battery does not light up – DO NOT be alarmed – This is normal. The little red light on the wall charger extension of USB female inlet should still show red, and it will actually charge longer, but the battery blue led won’t come on – This is normal.
d. Remember to keep your connectors clean of juice – I have had some that I had too much juice on the connector and when I put it on the charger it blinked 4 or 5 times, then I cleaned the connectors with a damp towel, and it worked fine.
e. If you’re puffing on the e cigarette, and it stops and blinks 10 times – you know its dead, and needs charging.
f. If you puffing on the e cigarette and it stops and blinks 3 times, then you know you hit the 7 second cutoff, which means you too a very long drag, and it cuts off for safety.
g. DON’T BE ALARMED – If while you’re taking a drag, that the Cartomizers gets HOT or very WARM to your lips – This can be normal sometimes, and you simply pull it away for a couple of seconds, and it will cool, then you can get back to puffing away.
Cartomizers, Cartridges, Tanks, Atomizers, Oh My…
1. Cartomizers – These are the devices that come with the Halo G6 Kit and screw onto the battery. They are very basic, but have taken years to develop. They have a “PolyFill” material that holds the e-Juice kind of like a sponge. There is a “Wicking” tube in the middle of the cartridge or Cartomizers (again, cartridge and Cartomizers are the same thing). There is a “Heating Coil” in the bottom that runs up the wicking tube that warms the juice or fluid and turns it into vapor. These are simple to fill using multiple methods. (We’ll go into that next)
2. LR Cartomizers – These are “Low Resistance” Cartomizers and basically they make the juice hotter, and thus produce more vapor and warmer vapor – They do this by running at 2.1 ohm or electrical resistance as opposed to the regular Cartomizers that run at 2.8 ohms or resistance. They do use the battery quicker though, so your batteries won’t last as long, and they DO NOT come pre-filled – so you will need to fill them with juice if you want to use them (I Do use these as they produce more vapor that I like, as my lung capacity has gone back up.) Although it’s not a HUGE difference, as I find myself going back and forth between regulars and LR’s and I still like the regulars and they have done a great job for me as well.
3. Tanks – These are simply a “Tank” of fluid with a wick inside of it or a Cartomizers with holes inside of it that visually shows you your fluid level, and can hold more.
4. Clearomizers – These are the same as tanks, except the size of a cartridge or Cartomizers (smaller).
5. Atomizers – This is a similar set up to a Cartomizers, but it is just the heating portion – It was used back when they had 3 piece e-cigs, except now, it’s all in one… Cartridge + Atomizer = Cartomizers.
6. Wicks – These are used inside of Tanks and Clearomizers that wick the juice to the heating element.
FILLING METHODS - Cartomizers, Cartridges, Tanks, Atomizers, Oh My…
1. Cartomizers – Basically you can use 3 methods:
a. CAUTION – Remember the e-Juice has nicotine in it that can be absorbed through the skin, so if you get it on your hands, it’s not the end of the world, but you should wash your hands with soap and water quickly, or wear nitrile gloves like I do to avoid this issue.
b. If you want to just buy cartridges and not mess with juice then none of this applies to you, you simply switch out cartridges when they taste or smell like burnt paper.
c. Pull off the soft rubber cap at one end of the cartridge, and drop the fluid in and watch the PolyFill absorb the juice and then spin and drip more in (about 3 drips each time will do)…. Do this until it stops absorbing or you have put in about 20 drops into a completely dry cartridge or you have used 1ml of fluid.
d. (Caution) I would suggest doing this the first couple of times OFF of the BATTERY, as you don’t want juice to drain down through the cartridge and into the battery if you put too much in.
e. Once you get the hang of it, you can simply carry a battery, 1 or 2 cartridges, and a small 7ml bottle of juice, and every couple of hours simply pull off the rubber cap, and drop in 3 drops of juice without taking the cartridge off the battery, and your off and running.
f. Always remember to Blow through the cartridge the opposite way you suck or draw to get any juice in the middle tube out – Then dab the metal threads with
2. Tanks, Clearomizers, Atomizers, Wicks
a. These are pretty much the same, with small variations – Yet the main difference between these and Cartomizers, is you can see the fluid, and they hold MORE fluid compared to Cartomizers.
This is actually an E-Cig size battery below with a Tank or Clearomizers instead of a Cartomizers or Cartridge – This is a nice way to basically fill it at the beginning of the week, and visually monitor how much juice you have and fill when needed, rather than changing cartridges out.
b. Cartomizers typically hold 1mL of fluid, where as many of these will hold 1mL to up to 7mL of fluid, which you can see and know when to refill.
c. These types of atomizers listed above, basically to fill them, you take off the top cap, and drip in juice until its fill – very simple.

E-Cigarette Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Halo G6?
The G6 is designed to be the best 2-piece electronic cigarette available.
2-piece electronic cigarettes like the G6 consist of only a battery and Cartomizers. Cartomizers combine both the atomizer and cartridge into a single disposable unit. 2-piece electronic cigarettes are typically preferred by new users looking for a maintenance free way to enjoy vaping. The G6 Cartomizers can also be refilled like 3-piece units, making it a great unit for beginners to grow into as they become more experienced.
What is the difference between a manual and an automatic battery?
Automatic batteries offer an experience most similar to smoking an actual cigarette, so are typically preferred by new users. Automatic batteries are activated by air-flow, so there is nothing for the user to do other than inhale. With Manual batteries on the other hand, there is a small button which must be pressed for the unit to start working. Once the button is released, the unit will shut off. Manual batteries are typically preferred by experienced users that prefer more control over their electronic cigarette experience.
How many drops should I put into the G6 Cartomizers?
We recommend starting with 20 drops in a completely empty G6 Cartomizers. Refilling may require less depending on how much liquid is still left in the Cartomizers.
How many times can I refill a G6 Cartomizers?
The G6 Cartomizers can be refilled multiple times, depending on personal preference. Although many of our customers refill Cartomizers well over a dozen times, we also have those who prefer “fresher” Cartomizers. Cartomizers should typically be replaced once they experience performance issues such as significantly decreased vapor, difficult drags or tattered PolyFill.
How do I fill a G6 Cartomizers?
Refilling a G6 Cartomizers is fairly simple and can be a great way to save money. First, remove the plastic cap from the back of the G6 Cartomizers. Stand the Cartomizers up with the threaded end down, and slowly drip 20 drops onto the white “PolyFill” inside. Try not to drip too much into the center as this could cause liquid to leak out of the other side. Once the 20 drops have been added, replace the plastic cap and let stand with the threaded end down. Allow 30 minutes for the liquid to adequately be absorbed into the Cartomizers. Use a paper towel to clean up any excess liquid that may have leaked out during the process. Ensure the threaded connector is completely dry as well. It is very important not to overfill Cartomizers, as this can easily burn out batteries or cause them to experience issues.
What is your warranty on Starter Kits?
Halo is pleased to offer a 30-day Satisfaction Guarantee on all Starter Kits. If for any reason you are not 100% satisfied with the quality of your electronic cigarette kit, simply contact us for return instructions within 30 days of the purchase date. Consumable components such as Cartomizers, atomizers and cartridges cannot be refunded for sanitary reasons. The components could never be resold due to our strict QC guidelines, so cannot be refunded.
Why doesn’t my G6 produce any vapor?
The (2) Cartomizers on top of the foam that are included with your G6 Starter Kit are blanks. These are empty Cartomizers which you can add your own e-liquid to. The 5-pack of Cartomizers located under the foam are prefilled with e-liquid and are ready to be used.
Why isn’t my battery working correctly?
The most common reason batteries will die prematurely or experience issues is because liquid has gotten inside the battery. This is usually caused by overfilled Cartomizers that leak into the battery threading, and ultimately into the battery itself. Once this occurs, the battery may experience erratic behavior or just burn-out completely. Please note that batteries damaged by overfilled Cartomizers are not covered under warranty. If you feel this is not the case, and the battery is defective, please contact us for additional assistance.
E-liquid Frequently Asked Questions
What is your most popular flavor?
Currently, Torque 56 is our most popular tobacco blend and Menthol Ice is our most popular Menthol blend. We do have some exciting new flavors being introduced this year that may change this ranking.
What ingredients are used in your E-Liquid?
Our ingredients contain USP Grade Propylene Glycol and USP Grade Glycerin along with a proprietary blend of USP Grade Natural and Artificial flavorings. All ingredients are FDA and FEMA approved food additives, and we use only the highest quality USP Grade Nicotine with a Certificate of Analysis. Our nicotine is tested and documented to be a minimum of 98%-99% pure before our e-liquid is created in our US facility.
Should I refrigerate my E-liquid?
No. Halo E-liquid should be kept consistently at room temperature for optimal flavor. The flavoring in cold e-liquid tends to separate from other ingredients, significantly reducing the flavor. In addition, if your e-liquid has been left outside in a cold mailbox during winter months, it is highly recommended that you allow it to sit at room temperature for 24 to 48 hours before vaping. This should be ample time for the flavoring to meld back with other ingredients, allowing for optimal results.
What is the PG/VG ratio of your e-liquid?
This is proprietary information which we are unable to share at this time. There are many companies looking to duplicate Halo e-liquid, and we prefer not to offer any specific information regarding ratios or specific ingredients.
Does your e-liquid contain Diacetyl?
No, Halo does not contain Diacetyl in any of our e-liquid formulas. This was a strict requirement for Halo far before it became a popular topic in the forums. In addition, our e-liquid also does not contain Acetyl, Propionyl, 2-3 Hexanedione, 2-3 Heptanedione, or Diacetyl Trimer which are often used as Diacetyl equivalents.
Do you accept returns on e-Liquid?
Unfortunately, we are not able to accept returns on e-liquid that does not meet personal flavor expectations. Taste is a very subjective sense that will vary greatly from person to person. We highly recommend purchasing a sample pack or 5ml sample bottle from our site to determine if our e-liquid is a good match for your personal taste. In accordance with our strict Quality Control guidelines, returned e-liquid could never be re-used for any purpose, so will not be accepted.
Could I have received a “bad batch”?
This question should be prefaced by saying that to date we have not had any “bad batches”. Each one of our bottles has a unique lot code which gives specific details about how the batch was processed and which ingredients were used for its production. We closely monitor feedback regarding specific batches, which would help us identify a “bad batch” if one were ever to arise. If you feel you received a “bad batch”, simply contact us for further information about the specific Lot number you received. You should also ensure that your e-liquid has been kept at room temperature for 48 hours before contacting us.
What nicotine level should I choose?
There are far too many variables for us to make this determination on your behalf. What types of cigarettes you currently smoke, the quantity smoked, how long you’ve smoked for, the length of each drag, and the strength of your drag are just some of the variables that determine the level of nicotine that is right for you. Halo always recommends starting with a lower nicotine level and working your way up until the desired results are achieved. This will help to keep you from absorbing too much nicotine and reducing the chance of potential side effects.
Flavors, Flavors, Flavors
1. Here is the process you will go through, even if you say, “No – I won’t do that, because I don’t like sweet things, or I don’t like flavors…”
2. You will (Like I) want the closest thing to an Analog or an Analog Menthol that you can get… You want the Ash, and Smoke… Notice I didn’t say Tobacco. It’s because Cigarettes, don’t taste like tobacco, they taste like an ASH TRAY… E Juice manufacturers Try, and Try, and Try to duplicate tobacco smells and tastes, but they don’t duplicate Ash taste because it tastes like Ash, and burnt paper, and just total crap….
3. So what they do very well though, is duplicate tobacco taste. If you take a normal cigarette, and don’t light it, and smell the tobacco stem of the cigarette, from side to side, you will smell a “tobaccoey” smell. This is one of the many flavors that the e-Juice industry duplicates very well. They also duplicate many other varieties, all the way to cigars, and fire cured, Tennessee, cowboy, etc… You can get many varieties of tobacco, and they are very tobacooey, but they won’t be like Ash, because you would hate the taste.
4. So – There are some steps you will take on your journey.
a. Step #1 – You will buy something very close to Tobacco or Menthol – Saying, “ I just want the same thing I have.”
b. Step #2 – You like the new found taste and enjoyment, but you think to yourself, well, a little more sweetness, or bitterness, or more or less menthol wouldn’t hurt…. So you take the plunge and order a sampler pack.
c. Step #3 – Now your loving the variety, you have found, and realize that maybe you like Halo Prime 15 flavor because it adds an earthy, nutty tobacco taste for the morning with your coffee, but in the afternoon you like Halo Tribeca, because it adds some earthy carmal and vanilla to tobacco, and then you like a nice stiff Menthol for the evening before bed… Now you have 3 favorites.
d. Step #4 – Supposedly – I haven’t reached this yet – You start experimenting even further into other flavors, like fruits, and grains, etc. that make the pleasure even further.
5. Flavor Resources:
a. The best way to find out about different flavors when your ready to explore is to:
i. Go to the website and read the description of the flavor
ii. Search for other USA based E-Liquid suppliers, like a few I mentioned above.
iii. Do a Google search on the flavor, like “Halo E Liquid Review” or “Halo Menthol Ice Review” and you will find a large amount of information.
iv. Be aware, that some reviewers are paid for their reviews, so base your opinion on the taste characteristics, rather than whether they “Like” it or “Dislike” it.
v. Then remember, a sample bottle is typically $3.00 - $5.00… So if you don’t like it, your out very little.
One Last Thing – The Tooth Pick Trick
1. If you get your kit to begin with, and the “Draw” or “Drag” is very “Airy” and/or you can hear a “whistle” when you draw.
a. You could have too much air coming through, and in which case you should take a tooth pick, and simply plug one of the air holes on the battery (There are 2 opposing small holes on the cartridge end of the battery. You simply take the pointy end of the tooth pick and put it in one of the holes, and wiggle it back and forth and break the wooden tip off in the hole, and this decreases your air flow in half, thus making it draw more like a normal cigarette. (It should NOT feel like your sucking through a straw… It should actually FEEL like a REAL cigarette, and there should be some good resistance to your draw.
b. You could be sucking TOO hard…. Remember your draw on a regular cigarette is an 10 level draw on a 1-10 scale, where it is more like a 2 or 3 level suck on a 1-10 level scale on an electronic cigarette. Don’t suck too hard…
c. There is a picture below of the hole and the toothpick. You simply break off the head of the toothpick in the hole, and leave the wood in there, it won’t hurt anything. This widely done across the industry to suit someone’s drag style. You can later fish it out, if it gets too hard to draw, with a simply thumb tack or sharp sewing needle. (You will see a picture below.)
