I can only tell you that I've owned one Smok product when I was new to vaping, you could say before I knew better, and it was a pos. I didn't even bother contacting Smok for a replacement, I took the loss as a lesson learned.

Reading the threads on here has confirmed my thoughts on Smok having quality issues. There are a lot of good companies and devices out there that have a much better track record than Smok. That's my :2c:

Good luck with whatever you decide on and welcome to the forum.

no no no no no..

They have no quality control..

Think again, buy intelligently. Go with a GeekVape Aegis Legend for a well priced mod, or a Lost Vape Paranormal 250c for a little more, or a Therion..you could also do a Tesla Nano 120 if you can find them still..

You'll be happier with something good..

SMOK's notoriously poor reputation preceeds its name. As others have already stated, get just about anything other than a SMOK. SMOK does an excellent job in marketing, and has managed to flood the market and vape shops with a lot of affordable mods. However, they also have a reputation for poor quality control and nearly nonexistant product/warranty support. Buying a SMOK mod will give you a 50/50 chance of enjoying a durable long lasting mod. Do you like those odds?

The SMOK V8 is an AIO (all-in-one) device, meaning that the tank is permanently attached to the mod. What if you don't like the tank or you break the glass? You can't put a different tank on the mod.

It also does not have variable wattage (that's known as "unregulated"). That's like cooking on a campfire: one power setting. With variable wattage, you'd be cooking with a gas stove in comparison. Variable wattage allows you to adjust your vape for different flavors and different moods ... you can't do that with the SMOK V8. Often an unsatisfactory vape can be improved simply by adjusting the wattage ... you can't do that with the SMOK V8. It's an extremely limited vaping device ... you can do far better.

EDIT: I read SMOK PRIV V8 from OP, so it has a removable tank. But still... don't buy it! Read along...

Funny, I own one... If I were you just don't get it. It comes with two coils, 0.25ohms pre fitted and 0.15 ohms as an extra. That 0.15 coil is useless as this is unregulated mod, it fires up at 60 watts when fully charged and burns that 0.15 coil in about 1.5 seconds. Not burn the coil but burn the cotton and you're stuck with burnt taste forever in that coil. You can use the 0.25 coil for like 2 weeks if you are a moderate vaper and you will need a new one after that.

The battery cover will worn out quicker than the coils and will make loose connections to the battery. I already soldered what's supposed to be a pin connection because I guess the pin got hot and melt the plastic housing that made itself sink in it's own hole. The only reason for you to buy it is if you fancy repairing broken electronics. The Priv V8 will be your next project in less than a month.

For the exact same price.. I recommend OBS cube. You can choose to buy the mod only or with a sub ohm tank, but the tank is similar to any replaceable coil tanks. So I suggest you just buy the mod only and use the saved money to buy a proper RTA. It has a built in 3000mah battery that is enough IMO for any single coil RTA. It's built in so you don't need to fiddle with anything. I only recommended it just because it is identical in pricing, at least from where I bought them.

If you can spend more, you need to look elsewhere and forget the SMOK brand.

You're right. I must have been thinking of the SMOK Prince setup which is AIO.

Sophie Vapes might come across as an airhead, but she is actually a very good vape reviewer. She confirms that the SMOK V8 is an unregulated mod (non-variable-wattage) and she had trouble with the threading (manufacturer quality control issue).
