Got one delivered today... Looks fantastic, performance is pretty good

Can't decide if it's better than the T3s yet?

Bit disappointed with the muted flavour as I was with the t3s too

There's a lot is talk about rebuilding to make them better, never done any of this.
How difficult is it and does it really make much difference?

Rebuild is super easy. Hardest part is removing the "chimney" only because you will fear breaking the thing. Just wiggle side to side and it will come loose. Took me about 5 minutes the first time to complete a rebuild.

I have the toughest time rebuilding Protank coils and getting them right. Some are awesome, some just bleah. Not sure what I am doing wrong on them but I wouldn't say its super easy.

Agreed!

I thought I had it down, because although my first rebuild sucked.....the next 5 or so after that were AWESOME.

Now lately, it is like only 1 out of 3 of my rebuilds are great, maybe 1 out of 3 OKAY, and usually 1 out of 3 SUCKS. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.....maybe I'm wrapping them too tight or too loose, not sure.

Cheers guys

I'm actually tasting an improvement after a bit more use and a couple of re fills, this blows the T3s out of the water for me

Love it :)

I had one very minor gripe and that's that it was a little too airy. Easily resolved

I experimented by covering 1,2 and 3 of the base holes while drawing and decided that it was better with one covered

I then put a very small piece of clear tape over 1 hole, you really can't even see it

Hey presto, fixed :)

Some might want to cover 2 holes but 1 did it for me

You need at least a six pack under your belt before attempting to rebuild a Protank coil. And, the earlier you start drinking, the better it will be. You might not ever get it just quite right, but after six good strong ones, you just don't give a damn.

This has been my experience as well. Some people on here make it sound like it's a piece of cake to get it right all of the time, but about 2 out of every 3 I rebuild end up flooding. I also don't know what I'm doing wrong and it's been a frustrating experience for me. I still do it once in a while, if I'm bored and wanting to take another crack at it (usually after seeing the large ziplock baggie of head-parts I have collected), but if I absolutely need something that works, I'll grab a brand new one out of the package. Rebuilding Protank coil heads isn't for everyone.

Yeah, I agree. I rebuilt Protank and Evod coils and usually nailed the target resistance of around 2.0, but it just wasn't worth the time or effort for me. My first effort was an unmitigated disaster. My second was better, my third better still and by the fourth or fifth time I was a pro.

Now, whenever I place an order I always include a five-pack of Protank/Evod coils and I have enough to last through the Zombie Apocalypse.

Wow, this rebuilding business sounds like too much trouble, think I will stick to ready made

It really isn't difficult to rebuild them at all, in fact it is EASY. The difficulty is getting the coils JUST RIGHT....so that the vape is WONDERFUL. Sometimes you end up wrapping the coils too tight, sometimes too loose. Sometimes the wire ends up touching a part of the metal that it shouldnt, and then you get a short. Things happen......but the more you get used to it, the easier it gets. It really isn't difficult, just a pain in the .... to get it JUST RIGHT.

Also, you can order 5 packs of coils from discountvapors.com for 6 bucks EACH. Thats $1.25 per coil. If each coil lasts you a week, you are only paying $1.25 a week to vape + cost of e-liquid. That is cheap if you ask me.

Even if you decide not to rebuild, SAVE ALL OF YOUR SPENT COILS. You will be happy you did in the future, when you decide to rebuild. Even if you dont decide to, I guarantee you someone will buy them off your hands.....hell, I sure will!

I think that's the problem. I don't drink for fear of alcoholism. Crack only for me, but it makes me shaky. I may have to overcome my fears and "pop a cold one" as the kids today say.

I'm sure my curiosity will get the better of me sooner or later and then i will have to give it a go.

Until then a 5 pack is on order :)

I've had a heck of a time rebuilding protank coils, finally found a solution that works for me. First the rubber insulators like to scorch if you get a hot leg and the only cure I've found is to cut off the burnt part. Taste is so incredibly horrible. So now i use nail clippers and clip off the top of every rubber insulator on every protank coil i build. It shortens it so that it does not sit so high and close to the coil and reduces the likelihood of scorching the rubber insulator. Then i use 2mm hollow ekowool, torch it, thread paperclip through the middle for coil wrapping. Pull on the ekowool at both ends to get it to tighten up on the paperclip. Then wrap 6 coils of 32awg kanthal. I wrap them tight on the ekowool, but not so tight it cuts into it. While assembling the coil head, I make sure the coil stays tight on the ekowool. With the paperclip still in, pull on the kanthal leads sticking out if you need to tighten it up. Usually comes out to 1.4-1.6 ohms. I lightly dry burn to space coils and fix any hotspots. Don't over do the dry burn or you can heat up the legs enough to burn the rubber insulator. I experimented with various ekowool holders for wrapping the coils and find the paperclip is the right diameter to expand the ekowool to a good size. My paperclip was about 30mm long before I uncoiled it for size reference. Once the coil is wrapped and coil head is fully assembled, remove the paperclip. When the wick gets wet it will expand a little and collapse the void left by the paperclip. I find this to make the correct tightness of a coil around the wet ekowool. Put chimney thing back on and toss into tank. I don't use any flavor wicks anymore and have not had any leaking or flooding. This has only been going for about 4 days, so things may change. However I've already noticed a more consistent vape and think they might last longer too. did not care for ss mesh in the protank coils. ribbon kanthal was really good at burning the rubber insulators so i quit trying that too. Also, i've built about 4 of these now and all are preforming the same. This was about the 10th variation I tried and was about to give up. If you do decide to try building coils, give this a shot.

Just bought my Protank II Mini. Love it. Vapes really well. I bought mine at Vapor City on Auburn Blvd for those in the Sacramento, CA area.

Is it the V1 or V2? The difference is that the V2 has a removable drip tip and can also be used with any 510 drip tip instead of the stock metal one. I just bought a starter kit with 2 EVOD VV 650 mAh batteries, 2 Mini ProTank II (V2), charger, and wall adapter. I'lve been wanting to get one of those Mini ProTanks and when I came across that kit at Vape Dojo I went for it. Besides one can always find a use for extra batteries chargers and so on.... can never have enough backups!

mini protank is so much better than mini t3.

I buy protank coils from discount vapers and clean/mod them regularly to keep them in rotation.

I keep hearing that aro heads will fit in a protank II and improve performance but I cannot personally confirm this.

Yes they seem to have the best prices on them so that's where I get mine when I do need them. Though that isn't very often as I recoil my own heads and they seem to work so much better than the factory heads.
