Hello all,

My new mini should be here tomorrow! Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has ever gotten their provari wet or accidentally submerged it in water? Did it survive? Was there extensive damage?

I imagine that if the unit were on when it hit the water, that would be bad. I've recovered cell phones that have taken a plunge though.

The reason I ask is that I do a lot of fishing and there's a chance I might drop it over the side of the boat if I get a fish on, lol.

Any experiences or info would be appreciated. Thanks

No first hand experience with water and all, but since I spend alot of time out in the boat as well, I can tell you I will "suffer" with my kanger 808d when fishing or out and about out there. There is no way I'm chancing any accidental mishap with a "provari overboard!!!" scenario.:D
Thanks for the response, Spac. I hear you. I'm thinking about getting a cheaper "road mod" but I'm afraid I'll like the provari so much that nothing else will do.

I'd definitely want to have a lanyard and or floatation device attached while on the boat. Does anyone know of lanyards that work with or are made for provari?

Back to the dunk scenario.... Obviously water wouldn't be good for the unit. I wouldn't wonder if a lesser mod could survive, but we're talking about a high quality mod here.

As I would expect, water damage is not covered in the warranty.

Warranty info from ProVape website
What is not covered:

This warranty does not cover the atomizer, batteries, charger, tips or any other accessories, only the device itself. The warranty does not cover improper or unreasonable use; failure to follow operating instructions; accidents, excess moisture, lightning, power surges, connections to improper voltage supply/batteries, unauthorized alteration or modification of original condition; loss of or damage to the vaporizer or its internal components. Cross threading the end caps is not covered and damage to the finish is not covered.

The cost of shipping the device to us is not covered under the warranty. It is recommended that use a shipping service like Priority Mail or UPS with a tracking number to ensure the package is trackable.

Again, if anyone has had experience with water damage please share. And any input on lanyards or items that could prevent the mod from being dropped would be appreciated as well.

I would think a mechanical mod would survive a swim.

If you want a cheaper vv option that is a solid performer check out the Madvapes VV box, I got one for a friend, and ended up getting me one too, $43 at madvapes, and elctronicstix carries the same box for $49. I use it when mowing or when I'm doing something and I don't want to drop or dirty up my provari.

I read a post where the guy had dropped his V2 in a sink full of water while shaving. The ProVari was on and it completely flooded. He contacted ProVape and was told to remove the battery and dunk the whole thing in 95% rubbing alcohol and then stick it in a bag of dry white rice for 24 hours. The OP reported that this worked and has had no problems with the ProVari.

While not a "nice" story, I once accidentally dropped my provari in the toilet... It got soaked right through. I washed it inside and out with 80% alcohol and stuck it in the airing-cupboard to dry. While I expected it to not work, it was completely fine (to my relief).

How can the unit be "on" when it hit the water? You'd have to hold the button down for it to actually be firing.

Or do you mean "on" as in "not powered down"? AFAIK, powering it down doesn't even really do anything other than disabling the button, requiring five presses to activate the menu.
